Around the Granite State: Roy’s big day helps lift Nashua South boys lacrosse past Manchester

NASHUA – Owen Roy had four goals to help the Nashua High School South boys lacrosse team to an 8-1 win Monday against Manchester.

Cody Jackson added a goal and two assists and Luke Lowell had a goal and an assist for the Panthers (1-0), in a game that was played at the high school.

Broden Landsteiner and Tyler Benzekri each had a goal while Grayson Flaherty, Joseph Kudla and Grant Imbeault had an assist apiece. Jake Lynn finished with seven saves.

Cade Tripp got the lone goal for Manchester (0-1), with Brandon Weaver picking up an assist. Cam Roberge finished with 12 saves.

Campbell 2, Souhegan 1

The Cougars picked up a big road win over the Sabers to open the season, with Matthew Decarli scoring the game-winner right before the buzzer to end the third quarter.

Zac Hannah added a goal and an assist for Campbell (1-0 in D3) and Will O’Brien finished with 16 saves.

Souhegan (0-1 in D2) got its lone goal from Ayden McGrath while Sean Reardon made 11 saves. Reid Kimball and Jared Kershaw played well defensively for the Sabers.

No. 10 Merrimack 18, Nashua North 6

Henry Tobin and Hudson Rousseau each had four goals to help lead the Tomahawks to a win over the Titans.

Sean Anderson added three goal and an assist and Cayden Dine had a goal and three assists. Peyton Connelly and Max Giles also had two goals apiece for Merrimack (1-0, No. 10 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll).

Gabe Gorman scored his first varsity goal and also had an assist and Nathaniel Bergen also scored. Mason Tremblay and Seamus Hickey split time in goal to get the win.

North got two goals apiece from Nico Bottari and Dylan Noble. Jack Krulikowski added an assist and Josh Parsons made 16 saves.

No. 4 Pinkerton 21, Salem 0

Owen Perkins and Gavin Burwell combined to get the shutout in goal as the Astros rolled past the Blue Devils.

Matt Gormady had five goals to lead Pinkerton while Levi Weaver scored four goals and Jeff Gormady had three scores. Ben Quintiliani and Tyler Pinardi added tw goals apiece.

Dylan Stingel, Aiden Jones and Pinardi were solid on faceoffs for the Astros.

No. 2 Bedford 21, Dover 5

The Bulldogs outscored the Green Wave 11-3 in the first quarter on the way to the big win.

Bennett Matthews had five goals and an assist and John Purnell also had five goals for Bedford. Luke Purnell had four goals and three assists and Evan Capello had four goals and two assists in the win.

Bryce D’Urso added two goals and three assists while Brody Helton had a goal and two assists and Dylan Riccio added an assist and was 21 of 27 on faceoffs. Ethan Conn and Matt Benn each finished with a save in goal.

Parker Ketchum led Dover with three goals while Logan Carter and Ben Tower had one apiece. Daniel Bretz finished with nine saves.

Laconia 16, Kearsarge 4

Eli Nadeau scored six goals to lead the Sachems to a win over the Cougars.

Brady Stevens chipped in with four goals and two assists while Paul Ganchi had two goals and an assist and Sean O’Sullivan had a goal and two assists.

Rock Londer and Declan Perrino had a goal apiece and Brecken O’Reilly had an assist. Steven Mingo-Timmins made nine saves behind the solid defense of Chris Amato, Landen Brothers, Braydon McMath, Caden Tucker, Ben Hogg and Yuri Luis.

John Stark 15, Stevens 1

The Generals picked up a win in their first game as an independent program since 2018.

Cam Shaw had three goals and six assists to lead the Generals, while Miller Twombly had three goals and three assists. Charlie Pierce dominated on faceoffs and also had three goals and Wyatt Puza also had a goal.

Parker Hamel picked up the win in goal while Puza and Shane Brunini played well defensively.

Coe-Brown 15, Milford 2

The Spartans came up shot in their opener against the Bears, despite getting 12 saves from Rocco Bartling.

Dylan MacLeod had both goals for Milford and Tyler Ireland added an assist.

No. 3 Exeter 19, Windham 4

The Jaguars dropped their first game in D1 to the Blue Hawks. Evan Ardizzone had two goals and Josh Trudel had one for Windham.

Concord 7, Keene-Monadnock 2

Harry Snow made 16 saves to help lead the Crimson Tide to an opening win over the Blackbirds.

Jaden Haas had a goal and an assist and won 9 of 12 faceoffs for Concord while Eugene Conn and Liam Yeatman had two goals apiece. Tyler Morin finished with four assists.

Benjamin Ryder had a goal and an assist and Sean Mulkerron had two assists while Brayden Beauregard also scored.

Girls Lacrosse

Merrimack 11, Hanover 10 (OT)

Ava Martin scored off an assist from Jackie Hayes to give the Tomahawks the overtime win on the road against the Bears.

Martin finished with five goals and nine draw controls while Hayes had two goals and three assists for Merrimack (1-0), which trailed Hanover 8-4 at halftime.

Payton Trepaney added two goals, two assists and six groundballs while Riley Taylor had two goals, one assist and eight draw controls.

Lexi Bell had two assists for the Tomahawks and Brooklynn Hillard had one while Summer Dalbec-Joyal finished with six groundballs.

Winnacunnet 11, Goffstown 5

Sky Mace and Elle Emery each had three goals and two assists to lead the Warriors to a win over the Grizzlies.

McKinley Fowler added three goal and an assist for Winnacunnet while Reese Gandt had a goal and an assist and Emmy Granger also scored.

Madison Brunelle and Brenten Lyford each had four saves in goal.

No. 4 Pinkerton 17, Salem 4

Francesca Doyle scored six goals to lead the Astros to a win over the Blue Devils.

Delaney Summers added three goals and an assist while Elise Collins and Sookie Folsom each had two goals. Mia Eckerman, Bella Petralia and Cora Udina each had a goal for Pinkerton.

Sara DiClemente finished with two saves and Paige Fenner had four saves in the win.

Katie Wood had all four goals for Salem while Olivia Schoenrock finished with 10 saves and Zeynep Yildirim had two.

Campbell 12, Pembroke 8 

The Cougars got seven goals and two assists from Zoey Bourque in a win over the Spartans.

Ava Grant added three goals and an assist while Lilli Wilson had two goals and two assists for Campbell. Rania Chaudhry had nine saves in the win.

Keene-Monadnock 14, Alvirne 8

The Blackbirds grabbed a win at home over the Broncos in the D2 opener for both teams.

Ashlyn Commerford led the way for KM (1-0) with three goals and two assists while Logan Lord had three goals and Ashlan Dilegge had two goals and an assist. Joselyn Lucius record two goals and three assists.

Cate Kamphuis and Addy Hill also had a goal apiece while Sirena Cassin played well and Dayna English and Lydia Derosia were strong in goal.

Alvirne (0-1) got four goals from Cadence Bice while Audriena Chipperini had three goals and Julia Regency also scored. Fiona Duggan finished with 16 saves.

Kingswood 17, Kennett 9

The Knights grabbed an opening-day win over the Eagles behind five goals from Ava Waldron and four from Taylor Allar.

Kennett got four scores from Izzy Frechette and Myra Johnston scored three goals.

Derryfield 17, Belmont 1

Freshman Finley Llewellyn had four goals and two assists to help lead the Cougars to the win.

Maddy Paolino added four goals and an assist while Alex Benson had two goals and three assists. Chloe Bremberg and Bri Murray had two goals and an assist each and Kelsi Bremberg and Charlotte Belander had a goal and an assist apiece.

Gia Valinoti also scored and Chloe Larson finished with two assists. Lily Kfoury and Sadie Walsh combined for three saves.

Baseball

Bishop Guertin 10, Concord 0 (six innings)

The Cardinals picked up a shortened win behind a complete-game effort on the mound by AJ Holmes.

Holmes had 11 strikeouts and allowed one hit while Kolby Piper had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs to lead Bishop Guertin’s offense. Tyler Parks added two hits and two RBIs and Liam Ireland also had two hits.

Londonderry 9, Salem 1

The Lancers got a standout day from Jet Jones in a win over the Blue Devils.

Jones was 2 for 2 with two triples, two RBIs and three runs scored while Zach Green added two hits and Brody Labbe scored two runs.

Brady Gillis picked up the win by pitching four innings and allowing one run on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Casey Marsh and Trenton Powers combined to keep Salem hitless in relief.
