Around the Granite State: Salem boys lacrosse grabs win from Manchester

SALEM – Ryan Todt scored five goals Monday to help lead the Salem High School boys lacrosse team to a 14-4 win over Manchester.

Logan Smith and Kaden Leahy each had two goals for the Blue Devils (5-5), who picked up their second win over the Kings this season.

Braedon Boucher, Henry Yazbek, Colin Salkovitz, Aidan Shikrallah and Cole Whittaker added a goal apiece for Salem. The Blue Devils fell behind 1-0 early, but scored eight in a row to take a commanding lead into the second half.

Manchester (1-8) got two goals from Cade Tripp while Jackson Ulbin-Morin and Brady Harrison each had a goal.

No. 8 Merrimack 8, Concord 2

Max Giles had four goals to help lead the Tomahawks to the win over the Crimson Tide.

Henry Tobin scored three goals and Sean Anderson had three assists for Merrimack (8-4, No. 8 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll). Peyton Connelly also had a goal in the win.

Gabe Gorman had two assists and Hudson Rousseau chipped in with one helper. Mason Tremblay finished with 10 saves while Nathaniel Bergen, Trevor Shorette and Cayden Dine played well defensively.

Dover 12, Windham 11 (OT)

Cooper Ketcham scored in overtime off an assist from Parker Ketcham, giving the Green Wave the win over the Jaguars.

Logan Carter led Dover (5-6) with five goals while Tobey Desroches and Parker Ketcham had a goal and three assists apiece. Cooper Ketcham had two goals and two assists while Kyle Behan had three assists.

Ben Tower added two goals and Porter Gray also scored a goal while Danny Bretz finished with 15 saves.

Windham (4-7) got four goals and four assists from Sam Kramer while Corey Wickman also had four goals.

The game was back and forth throughout, with Dover going up 4-0 before Windham responded to take a 6-4 lead into halftime. The Green Wave came back from a two-goal deficit twice in the second half to tie the game.

John Stark 9, Milford 1

Cam Shaw had five goals and an assist to help the Generals to a win over the Spartans.

Cooper Twombly had two goals and an assist and Derek Tetro also scored twice for John Stark. Charlie Pierce was 9 of 13 on faceoffs and Wyatt Puza and Shane Brunini had three caused turnovers each.

No. 2 Bedford 20, Nashua North 5

Dylan Noble had three goals for the Titans, but they came up short against the Bulldogs.

Jared Gauthier and Andy Cullinane had a goal apiece for North while Josh Parsons finished with 13 saves and Cooper Koutalakis had six saves.

ConVal 9, Laconia 6

The Sachems dropped a game on the road to the Cougars, despite getting three goals apiece from Brady Stevens and Paul Ganchi.

Chris Amato and Rock Londer each had an assist for Laconia.

Oyster River-Newmarket 6, Merrimack Valley 5 (OT)

The Pride dropped a back-and-forth game against the Bobcats in overtime.

Tyler Carter had a goal and two assists for Merrimack Valley while Jake Demers and Ryan Monaghan had a goal and an assist apiece. Colin Reardon and Mike Heine each added a goal.

Mike Kingsbury made 16 saves in goal and Carter Lankhorst won 50 percent of faceoffs while Colby Scheffer had five groundballs.

Coe-Brown 18, Trinity 3

Joe Fenton and Sam Frye each picked up their 100th career point as the Bears grabbed a win over the Pioneers.

Fenton had four goals and an assist and Frye had two goals and four assists to lead Coe-Brown. Myles Brackett and Gilbert Bean each had three goals and three assists while Garret Ward scored three times.

Jack Matson and Jackson Alie split time in goal while Carson Hodgdon also played well on defense.

No. 4 Exeter 10, No. 9 Londonderry 7

The Lancers got off to a slow start and couldn’t come all the way back in a loss to the Blue Hawks.

Trey Campbell had three goals and an assist and Brody Campbell scored twice to lead Londonderry. Aidan Stowell and Owen Huard (one assist) also had a goal apiece while Blake Thompson and Odin Delorey each had an assist.

Cam Ayotte had five caused turnovers and six groundballs and Graeme Cunningham had five groundball, as both played well defensively. Broch St. Gelais finished with 12 saves.

Girls Lacrosse

No. 8 Merrimack 18, Kingswood 7

Ava Martin had a big game to help the Tomahawks improve to 9-0 with a win over the Knights.

Martin had seven goals and one assist to go with four draw controls and three groundballs. Riley Taylor and Jackie Hayes each added three goals and four assists, with Taylor getting nine groundballs and four draw controls and Hayes recording three draw controls and three groundballs.

Lyla Carls two goals and five groundballs and Liv Mitchell added two goals and had two groundballs. Ava Woods also scored for Merrimack and had three groundballs.

Sophia Richard made seven saves and Summer Dalbec-Joyal, Morgan Bellemore and Syd Capen also played well.

No. 6 Souhegan 13, No. 9 Nashua South 12

The Sabers were able to hold off a furious comeback attempt by the Panthers to hang on for the win.

Libby Kennedy had four goals and three draw controls while Izzy Stevenson had three goals, one assist and two draw controls and Emmy Curran had three goals and five draw controls to lead Souhegan (6-2).

Lanai Hickman added two goals and an assist and Abby Giannetti recorded a goal while Emma Crisman made 11 saves. Nat Heimarck, Sophie Jacobs, Marley Bacon and Maddy Behn also played well.

South (8-4) scored four goals in the final four minutes to pull within one. Carly Benzekri led the way with four goals and an assist while Maren Lowell had three goals and an assist and Karina O’Donnell also scored three times.

Saige Devins and Addie Borden had a goal apiece and Briley Landsteiner had an assist. Lilee Petricca made five saves and Nevaeh Eppolitto and Lexi McGuire played well defensively for the Panthers.

No. 10 St. Thomas 18, John Stark 3

The Saints got five goals apiece from Talula Gregg and Lizzy Holden to roll past the Generals.

Kensley Harris added three goals and Charlotte De Tolla finished with two for St. Thomas. Reece Anderson, Izzy Taylor and Lena Shaheen had a goal apiece.

Chloe Baker finished with two saves and Payton Baker and Ava Lyder played well defensively.

Laconia 16, Campbell 6

Zoe Bourque had four goals for the Cougars but it wasn’t enough against the Sachems.

Riley Lemire and Ava Grant added a goal apiece for Campbell while Rania Chauldhry finished with a save percentage of 50.

No. 4 Exeter 15, Londonderry 14

Phoebe Christenson scored four goals for the Blue Hawks as they held off the Lancers for the win.

Riley Benevides and Grace McIlroy each had two goals and an assist while Karli Scherpf had a goal and two assists. Hailey O’Kane and Anna Liberman added two goals apiece and Molly Byrne finished with 12 saves for Exeter (9-3).

Salem 17, Manchester Central-West 7

Katie Wood scored seven goals to lead the Blue Devils past Central-West.

Emily Young added three goals and Lily Burke and Haylee Bernard scored two goals apiece. Madison Wilson, Lily George and Morgann Raskow chipped in a goal each.

Zeynep Yildirim finished with nine saves for Salem (3-8).

Hanover 18, Goffstown 2

The Grizzlies went on the road and came up shorts against the Bears.

Peyton Duff and Paige Winters each had a goal for Goffstown while Trinity Lunn had an assist. Lunn, Morghan Dodge, Mackenna Fisher and Jenna Shannon each had three caused turnovers.

Boys Volleyball

Hollis Brookline 3, Mascenic 0

The Cavaliers moved to 9-0 on the season with a sweep of the Vikings on the road. Game scores were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-14.

Ethan Norris had nine kills, two aces and 17 digs to lead HB while James Kelley and Jameson Evelyn combined for 11 kills. Tyler Wu was solid defensively for the Cavs.
