Around the Granite State: Saturday’s Roundup

The Londonderry High School football team turned in a strong defensive performance and improved to 2-0 with a 16-0 win over Salem on Saturday.

The Lancers held the Blue Devils (1-1) to just 28 yards and one first down in the second half and 118 yards on the day, a big boost after the offense lost a key contributor in the first half. Quarterback Dylan McEachern left midway through the second quarter, and while he was cleared to, did not return.

Aiden O’Loughlin, Drew Heenan and Aidan Washington took snaps in place of McEachern, helping Londonderry pile up 232 rushing yards. McEachern and Heenan each had a rushing touchdown while Hayden Austin ran for 93 yards and Eric Razza had 69 yards on the ground. Zach Fawcett added a 26-yard field goal at the end of the first half for the Lancers.

Dante Fernandes had 62 yards rushing to lead Salem, but the Blue Devils struggled to move the ball against Londonderry.

Pinkerton 3, Nashua South 0

The Panthers lost for the first time this season in their second meeting of the week with the Astros.

Courtney Tello made 35 saves for South (2-1-1) while Amy Marison, Soleil Dubois and Lizzie Derusha all played well for the Panthers.

Plymouth 2, Kingswood 1

The Bobcats made two early goals hold up as they bounced back from a loss to the Knights earlier in the week.

Holly Hoyt and Rylei Keefe both scored in the first quarter and Holly Phillips had an assist to help Plymouth improve to 2-4. Hoyt’s goal put the Bobcats up 1-0, and after Kingswood tied it, Keefe scored with five minutes remaining in the first.

The remainder of the game was a back-and-forth battle between the 25s. Emma Webster, Gwen Merrifield, Maya Durate and Olivia Homer played well for Plymouth in the midfield. Defensively, Ellen Ryan, Tori Whitcher and Grace Bannon were solid and Ashley Bannon was big in goal.

Sanborn 3, Milford 0

The Spartans got a strong defensive game from goalie Aliah Gagnon and Camie Hopkins and Hallie Gagnon, but came up short against the Indians.

Erin Jasper and Nora Breton also played well at midfield for Milford.
