PENACOOK – Abbey Gray, Ella Normandin and Eme Godin each had a goal as the Souhegan High School field hockey team beat Merrimack Valley 3-0 on Tuesday.

Gray and Normandin scored in the first half to give the Sabers (2-0, No. 9 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) the lead. After Souhegan controlled play for much of the second half, Godin scored with 7:33 remaining to put the game away.

The Sabers had eight penalty corners while the Pride (0-1) had two, both in the first half. Merrimack Valley goalie Josie Dougherty finished with seven saves.

Plymouth 7, Milford 0

Peyton Moore scored two goals and Trista Strickland and Abigail Sanborn added a goal and an assist apiece for the Bobcats in the win over the Spartans.

Alexa Joyce, Kellen Mitchell and Katie Hancock also scored a goal apiece while Aaliyah Muzzey and Serena McKenney each had an assist.

Oyster River 9, Pelham 0

Eliza Farwell and Rowynn Pickering had three goals a piece to help the Bobcats to a win at home over the Pythons.

Oyster River (2-0) got strong play from the entire roster and got solid minutes from some of its younger varsity members.

Kearsarge 4, Monadnock 1

Bella Valle had three goals to help the Cougars pick up a win over the Huskies in the opener for both teams.

Freshman Charlotte Knox also came off the bench to score her first varsity goal and Stella Syvertsen picked up two assists for Kearsarge (1-0). Raegan Billado and Ava Valle also played well defensively.

Monadnock (0-1) opened the scoring on a goal by Bryanna Lacoste just 2:30 into the game. Charleigh Bohannon got the assist and Makayla Harwood made eight saves.

The Huskies finished with six penalty corners while the Cougars had two.

Sanborn 4, Newport 0

The Indians got four goals in the first half from four players to open with a win over the Tigers.

Summer Campbell started the scoring for Sanborn (1-0) while Kayleigh Preston, Alexa Rose and Melee Palma each had a goal in the second quarter. Alyssa Boutin and Megan Flaherty also played well.

Jacqueline Lampron led the defense for the Indians while Jade Dutton made three saves in the first half and Kaleigh Obert made three saves in the second half. Freshman Sierra Dutton also had two defensive saves.

Pembroke 5, ConVal 0

Anne Phillips had two goals to help lead the Spartans to a season-opening win over the Cougars.

Ashlyn Barker, Phoebe Morris and Avery Kelly each added a goal for Pembroke (1-0).
