Around the Granite State: Souhegan girls basketball keeps rolling
Here are results from Thursday’s high school basketball action.
The Souhegan High School girls basketball team beat Kingswood 63-34 Thursday night to win its fifth game in a row and clinch a home playoff game for the first time in a decade.
The Sabers (12-5 in Division II) broke the game open with a 24-point second quarter to lead 40-9 at the half. Julia Skelton led the way for Souhegan with 15 points and Nayaa Dineshkumar added 11 points while Zofia Rosenfield and Mariellah Dart each had eight points.
Caelynn Blattenberger led the Knights with 11 points, including two 3-pointers.
Souhegan will host a playoff game for the first time since 2016, when the Sabers were the No. 4 seed in D2 and won a preliminary-round game before falling at home in the quarterfinals.
Concord Christian 49, Exeter 34
The Blue Hawks saw their seven-game win streak come to an end in a road loss to the Kingsmen.
Jessica Melick had nine points and 10 rebounds and Lexy Rogers added eight points for Exeter (12-5). May Atlee chipped in with seven points and Emme Kayes recorded five markers.
Bishop Guertin 70, Timberlane 39
The Cardinals rolled to their fourth win in a row, beating the Owls behind 17 points from Hailey McGowan.
Talia Drapeau added 13 points for Bishop Guertin (10-7) while Olivia Baker, Bridget Hill and Kayden Rioux each scored 10 points.
Rylee Donahue had 28 points to lead Timberlane (10-7) and Lila Fitzgerald added five points.
Derryfield 70, Oyster River 35
The Bobcats fell at home to the Cougars, with Eve Bebbington scoring 10 points to lead the way.
Grace Schulten added nine points for Oyster River (9-7) and Jazzy Alvarez scored eight points.
