Around the Granite State: Souhegan girls basketball picks up key win over John Stark

The Souhegan High School girls basketball team jumped out to a 22-4 lead in the first quarter and rolled to a 57-26 win Wednesday over John Stark.

Zofia Rosenfield led the Sabers with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Kayden Merriam was also in double figures with 10 points.

Tess Jancar and Lanai Hickman had nine and eight points, respectively, while Hickman held Alexis Corbet, the Generals’ leading scorer, to just three points.

Winnacunnet 44, Manchester Memorial 38

Kalia Roy scored 19 points to help lead the Warriors to a road win over the Crusaders.

Roy finished with two 3-pointers and was 5 of 6 at the free throw line while Ariyah Bennett finished with 10 points, including two 3s, and Nora Simmons had eight points.

Avery Jenkins led Memorial with 18 points, including four 3-pointers.

Boys Basketball

Sanborn 82, Merrimack Valley 68

The Pride cam back from a 16-point deficit in the third quarter to cut the Indians’ lead to six, but couldn’t get any closer in a loss to Sanborn.

Aiden Gray had 26 points to lead Merrimack Valley while Thatcher Stearn and Nic Oglesby each added 15 points.

Campbell 76, Raymond 60

All five starters scored in double figures for the Cougars on Tuesday as they knocked off the Rams.

Logan Rice and Jack Breton each finished with 17 points for Campbell while Luke Delia finished with 16. Matthew Haley added 11 points and Cayden Deleon chipped in with 10 markers.

Boys Hockey

Goffstown 8, Somersworth Coe-Brown 0

The Grizzlies won their fifth in a row behind three goals from Sam Chapman.

Brock Bennett also scored twice for Goffstown and Kyle Bennett earned the shut out in goal with nine saves.

Concord 4, Pinkerton 2

Jaden Haas scored twice in the first period to help the Crimson Tide get a win over the Astros.

Tyler Morin and Rowan Arndt also had a goal apiece while Austin Proulx, Michael Berry and Cam Chandonnet each had an assist. Luukas Mayer picked up the win in goal.

Keene 4, Trinity 0

The Blackbirds made it five wins in their last seven games by beating the Pioneers.

Chris Truman had two goals to lead Keene while Evan Ahnert and Andrew Robichaud had a goal apiece. Ethan Ahnert had two assists and Trenton Hill made 20 saves to get the shutout.
