Around the Granite State: Souhegan girls lacrosse grabs win over Pinkerton (video)

AMHERST – The Souhegan High School girls lacrosse team broke open Monday’s game in the second quarter and rolled past Pinkerton Academy for a 15-4 win.

Libby Kennedy had four goals to lead the Sabers (5-1, No. 2 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) while Averie Curran had three goals and three assists.

Emmie Curran (two assists) and Lanai Hickman also had three goals apiece while Izzy Stevenson had a goal and three assists and Abbey Grey also scored. Meredith Heimarck recorded an assist while Marley Bacon, Eva Stiles, Sophie Jacobs and Maddie Behn played well.

Molly Benson finished with two saves for Souhegan.

The Astros (3-3, No. 4) got two goals and an assist from Sookie Folsom and Parker Knowlton added a goal. Delaney Summer also scored before leaving the game in the first quarter with an apparent left knee injury.

Paige Fenner recorded with five saves for Pinkerton.

No. 6 Winnacunnet 15, No. 10 Timberlane 8

Elle Emeroy scored seven goals to help the Warriors hand the Owls their first loss of the season.

McKinley Fowler added three goals and an assist while Hannah Curtin had two scores for Winnacunnet (5-2). Ari Rizzo (one assist) and Addy McEarlain each added a goal in the win.

Rylee Donahue had four goals to lead Timberlane (5-1) while Aubrey Fitzgerald had two goals. Julia Johnson had a goal and two assists and Lile Fitzgerald had a goal and an assist.

Elle Sarcione, Kasey Fitzgerald, Mackenzie Norcott and Mia Morrier played well defensively for the Owls.

No. 7 Bishop Guertin 20, St. Thomas 10

Lizzy Holden had five goals, including the 200th point of her high school career, but the Saints came up short against the Cardinals.

Talula Gregg and Julia Bryan each had two goals for St. Thomas (3-2) while Charlotte Kelly had one score. Reese Foss finished with six saves while Lena Shaheen and Jules Stowell played well defensively.

No. 8 Nashua South 13, Salem 2

Molly Mullaney and Carly Benzekri each had four goals to lead the Panthers to a win over the Blue Devils.

Benzekri also had two assists while Briley Landsteiner added two goals and two assists for South (6-1). Lexi McGuire chipped in with a goal and an assist while Wylie Hart and Isabel Picanco both scored a goal. Gemma Williams recorded an assist.

Emma Herlihy and CJ Oro split time in goal, with both recording two saves, while Maddie Langer, Karina Santana, Hailey Cote, Nicole DeJesus and Bella Hwalek played well defensively.

Salem (0-6) got two goals from Katie Wood and Olivia Schoenrock finished with 12 saves.

No. 3 Exeter 16, Nashua North 2

Nine players scored a goal for the Blue Hawks as they rolled past the Titans.

Riley Benevides had four goals and Racquel Battle added three goals for Exeter (6-1) while Josie Drunsic and Kelsey Hayward each had two goals.

Claire Wilhelm, Brooke Battle and Phoebe Christenson had a goal and an assist apiece while Avery Carrigan and Josephine Vadala each scored. Molly Byrne made three saves and Maggie Lilly had one.

No. 1 Portsmouth 15, No. 5 Londonderry 7

Lexi Padykula had three goals and an assist for the Lancers but they came up short against the Clippers.

Eres Delorey and Cora Rogers each had two goals for Londonderry (4-3) while Molly Connors and Annabele Melia each had an assist. Abbie Cook recorded 11 saves.

Coe-Brown 16, Pembroke 4 (Friday)

Brooke Kozlowski and Avery Keefe (two assists) each had three goals to lead the Bears to a win over the Spartans.

Natalie George added two goals and three assists and Morgan Readel had two goals and two assists for Coe-Brown (6-1). Kenzie Silva also had two goals and an assist while Kennedy Stanley and Anabel Boston had a goal apiece and Alexis Thomas had an assist.

Hailey Smith finished with six saves while Ady Moynihan, Ella Grant and Sophie Stachulski also played well.

Derryfield 17, Pelham 9 (Thursday)

The Cougars rallied from an early four-goal deficit and broke open a one-goal game in the second half to beat the Pythons.

Maddy Paolino had five goals and five assists and Finley Llewellyn added six goals and two assists for Derryfield (3-1). Chloe Larson added two goals and two assists whiel Titi Latinwo, Reagan Ayers, Kelsi Bremberg and Charlotte Belanger (one assist) had a goal apiece.

Noelanni Hunter finished with five saves while Taylor Bradley, Anny Naje (one assist) and Caitlin Lande played well defensively.

Boys Lacrosse

Nashua South 23, Salem 7

Owen Roy scored nine goals and had two assists to lead the Panthers to a win over the Blue Devils.

Max Signoroni added five goals and an assist while Grant Imbeault and Tyler Benzekri had two goals and three assists apiece for South (4-3). Raiden Nuy-Chao had three goals and Cody Jackson had a goal and three assists.

Chase Rioux and Cole Warshafsky (19 faceoff wins) added a goal and an assist apiece. Joe Kudla and Jason Brinley each had two assists while Cam Warshasfsky added an assist.

No. 2 Pinkerton 15, Keene-Monadnock 0

Matt Gormady had six goals and nine assists to lead the Astros past the Blackbirds.

Jack Ford and Mike Boudris added two goals and two assists apiece while Dylan Stingel and Tyler Pinardi did well on faceoffs for Pinkerton (. Gavin Burwell led the defense in goal and Brendan Carney, Brady Blaszka and Nate Smith played well defensively.

Londonderry 11, No. 8 Merrimack 8

Mason Tremblay made 15 saves for the Tomahawks but they fell on the road to the Lancers.

Gavin Hickey had two goals and two assists and Gabe Gorman also scored twice for Merrimack (3-2). Sean Anderson recorded three assists and Josh Kahn and Cayden Dine each had a goal.

Broch St. Gelais had 15 saves for Londonderry (3-3) while Austin Callahan had an assist and led the defense. Lowell Lees and Sage Peterson also played well defensivley.

Brody Campbell had five goals and Trey Campbell added for goals for the Lancers. Aidan Stowell also had a goal and an assist and Owen Huard had two assists while JJ Digeorge and Mason Taylor each had an assist.

No. 3 Bedford 16, Windham 5

Cobe Rubin and Drew Paskalis each had four goals and an assist to help lead the Bulldogs to a win over the Jaguars.

Bennett Matthews added three goals and six assists for Bedford (5-1) while Bryce D’Urson (one assist) and Savo Ftorek had two goals apiece.

Stefanos Peters-Demetriou also had a goal while Jacoby DeJesus and Dax Bekar each had an assist. Ethan Conn finished with eight saves and Sam Swiniarski recorded two.

No. 9 Dover 19, Manchester 1

Cooper Ketcham and Logan Carter each scored five goals and had three assists to lead the Green Wave to a road win over the Kings.

Parker Ketcham added three goals and three assists and Sylas Brown had two goals and two assists for Dover (4-2). Porter Gray also scored twice and Danny Tolan had a goal and an assist while Finn Joyce and Geffin Adorian had a goal apiece.

Brycen Glidden played well defensively, causing six turnovers, and Owen Wood won 98 percent of his faceoffs.

No. 4 Exeter 20, Nashua North 1

The Titans got a goal from Nick Wilkinson and 16 saves from Josh Parsons in a loss to the Blue Hawks.
