Around the Granite State: Thursday’s Roundup

The Goffstown High School field hockey team opened the season with a shutout of Sanborn, winning 3-0 in the Division II opener for both teams.

Emily Campbell had a goal and an assist for the Grizzlies while Alexandra Page and Makayla Strickulis also had a goal each, with all three coming in the first half.

Shannon Gifford and Emma Revaz each added an assist and MacKenzie Potvin had two saves, as the Goffstown defense kept the Indians from getting many opportunities.

Izzi Giles made five saves for Sanborn.

Bishop Guertin 4, Manchester Memorial 0

The Cardinals opened the Division I season by blanking the Crusaders at Stellos Stadium.

Lindsay Hult had a goal and an assist and and Sarah Coyle had two assists for Bishop Guertin. Kennedy Wright, Emily Lisi  and Emily Foltan also had a goal each.

Caroline Carey, Athansia Theofilpoulos and Liv Hlebichuk played well defensively in front of goalie Monina Tosi, who made four saves.

Pinkerton 4, Merrimack 2

The Astros started the season off with a win Wednesday, beating the Tomahawks in the Division I opener for both teams.

Lauren Lisauskas had two goals and an assist to lead Pinkerton to the win while Ava Dorci added a goal and a helper. Taylor Marchman also scored and Justin Doyle had an assist, while Khaliyah Ellis made one save.
