Around the Granite State: Timberlane field hockey rallies for OT win against Londonderry
Here are results from Wednesday’s high school sports action.
Down two goals going into the fourth quarter, the Timberlane Regional High School field hockey team rallied to force overtime and defeated Londonderry 3-2 on Wednesday.
Aubrey Fitzgerald scored with no time left on the clock to give the Owls (5-6) the win, snapping a four-game losing skid. Taylor Alperin added a goal and two assists and Esme Johnston also scored.
Lilly Clark finished with 28 saves for Timberlane.
Salem 2, Goffstown 0
Lexi Whipple had a goal and an assist to lead the Blue Devils past the Grizzlies.
Avery Aliberti also scored for Salem (6-6) and Addison Morgano recorded an assist.
Merrimack 3, Windham 1
Annabelle Cassetty made four saves, and on her birthday, helped the Tomahawks to the program’s first win over the Jaguars.
Allie Wyand had two goals and an assist for Merrimack (4-7) while Brooklyn Hilyard had a goal and an assist. Ava Martin also recorded an assist while Kelsey Ledoux and Jackie Hayes both played well.
Ella Gallinelli had the only goal for the Jaguars (3-7) in the first quarter.
No. 1 Keene 4, Nashua South 1
Sofia Miller had two goals and two assists for the Blackbirds in a road win over the Panthers.
Cece Walier also had a goal and an assist while Olive Thatcher added a goal. Lola Ballaro picked up an assist while Dayna English played well in goal after starter Lilly Rowell left with an injury.
Meury Navarette finished with 32 saves for South (2-9) before she also left with an injury. Ava DerGarabedian, Keegan Dolan, Wylie Hart, Lilly Shulte and Emily Richard played well for the Panthers.
No. 10 Hollis Brookline 4, Lebanon 0
Nyah Jernberg had a goal and two assists to lead the Cavaliers to a win over the Raiders on the road.
Addie Marchant, Brooke Bouchard and Emily Tebbetts also had a goal apiece for HB (10-1) while Maddie Barich made three saves.
Merrimack Valley 5, ConVal 1
Alyssa Brodeur scored three goals as the Pride bounced back from a loss on Monday by beating the Cougars.
Kaiya Mercier had a goal and an assist and Izzy Tucker also scored for Merrimack Valley (7-3), which had 17 penalty corners and 31 shots on goal.
Ronia Foecking finished with 27 saves for the Cougars.
John Stark 3, Kingswood 0
The Generals got goals from Zoe Lawson, Caylin Worthen and Adie Bolduc on the way to a win over the Knights.
Jillian Fredette had two assists and Paityn Niquette had one for John Stark (9-2), while Maxine Lunden and Emily Fredette played well.
Girls Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Windham 0
The Cavaliers picked up the win over the Jaguars by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-23.
Lolly Adair had six kills and four aces for HB (7-2) and Kate Berrigan had nine kills and one ace. Maggie Noble added six kill and two aces and Anika Carlson had eight kills.
Portsmouth Christian 3, Farmington 1
The Eagles held off the Tigers by scores of 25-22, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-8 to improve to 8-1 on the year.
Quinn Arico had 13 kills, 16 assists and two aces for PCA while Heidi Geyer had 11 kills and eight aces. Lexi Jordan recorded four kills, 14 assists and 11 digs and Caroline Braman had three kills and five blocks.
Emma Eisner had 19 digs and Marion Spurr added 14.
