Goffstown Grizzlies

The Goffstown High School field hockey team opened the season with a 1-1 tie against Merrimack on Tuesday.

Grace Taylor opened the scoring off a penalty corner in the first quarter, giving the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead over the Tomahawks. Merrimack tied the game on a goal by Paige Rivet in the third quarter.

Jaiden Lacerte and Maddie Sage split time in goal for Goffstown and made a save apiece, while Merrimack goalie Natalia Gonzalez had four saves.

John Stark 5, Pembroke 0

Gracie Bolduc had two goals and two assists for lead the Generals to a win over the Spartans.

Delaney Forrestall added two goals and an assist and Isabella Pelletier scored her first varsity goal to give John Stark the lead a little over three minutes into the game.

Aubrey Fischer and Meg Girardet each had an assist while Jackie O’Donnell led the defense, holding Pembroke without a shot, and Sydnee Pelletier recorded her fifth career shutout.

Girls Volleyball

St. Thomas 3, Portsmouth Christian 0

The Saints picked up a win over the Eagles by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-19.

PCA got five kills, five digs and two blocks from Joey Skubisz and three kills and three aces from Josie Hewitt. Bella Ouellette had 12 assists and two aces while Maddy Kniphfer had 12 digs.

The teams will play against on Thursday at St. Thomas.
