Around the Granite State: Tuesday’s Roundup
The Windham High School boys lacrosse team opened the Division II season with an 18-4 win over Pembroke Academy on Tuesday.
Noah Rust (one assist), Tyler Folsom and Jake Rust led the way for the Jaguars (1-0) with three goals apiece while Niko Piandes had two goals and an assist. PJ Marsh and Nathan Levine also had two goals each in the win.
Leo Piandes and Sawyer Hall added a goal and an assist each while Alek Tunik also scored and Ryan Marotta and Cody Stevens had an assist each.
Hollis Brookline 16, Alvirne 2
The Cavaliers opened the year in Division II with a big win over the Broncos, as Matt Passamonte had four goals to lead HB (1-0).
Ryan Olson added two goals and four assists while JJ Fiore had three goals in the win. Chas Dean scored his first varsity goal and had an assist as well for the Cavs, who will host Keene on Friday.
Keene 13, John Stark 10
The Generals fell in their season-opener to the Blackbirds, despite three goals and an assist from Matt Bennetter.
Peyton Marden had two goals and two helpers for John Stark while Kayden Easter had two goals and an assist. Ethan Konrad made eight saves.
Laconia 12, Coe-Brown 3
The Bears were able to hang with the Sachems for a half, trailing 5-3 at the break, but couldn’t get much going in the second half.
Mitchell Wade, Zach Sheehan, Ben Heyligger and Ben Watson all played well for Coe-Brown, which play at Gilford on Friday.
