Around the Granite State: Two late goals give Bedford field hockey win over Bishop Guertin (video)

NASHUA – Eloise Montagano scored the game-winning goal with a little more than five minutes remaining and the Bedford High School field hockey team took a 2-0 win Wednesday night over Bishop Guertin.

Montagano scored with 5:27 remaining, off an assist from Ella Putney, who added a goal of her own with 1:33 to play. Maddie Kiely also had an assist for the Bulldogs (2-0, No. 5 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) and Addison Wolfinger made five saves.

The Cardinals (1-1, No. 7) got 10 saves from Aya Saeturn.

Timberlane 6, Nashua South 2

The Owls picked up their first win of the season on the road against the Panthers.

Esme Johnston and Brooke Salafia each had two goals for Timberlane (1-1) while Aubrey Fitzgerald and Taylor Alperin had a goal and an assist apiece. Lilly Clark finished with 10 saves for the Owls.

Wylie Hart and Saige Devins each had a goal for South (0-2) while Keegan Dolan and Karina O’Donnell had an assist apiece. Meury Navarette made seven saves in goal.

No. 3 Windham 2, No. 10 Londonderry 0

Kendall Salvador scored twice in the first quarter to help lead the Jaguars to a win over the Lancers.

Sophie Manchester assisted on both goals, which came in the final two minutesof the first quarter. Eliza Meuse, Ella Wilkins and Ella Gallinelli played well defensively in front of goalie Dana McAleer, who finished with saves for Windham (1-1).

Molly Tharrington finished with three saves for Londonderry (1-1).

Salem 3, Portsmouth 0

Avery Aliberti had a goal and an assist as the Blue Devils beat the Clippers for their first win of the year.

Lexi Whipple and Ella Mosto also scored a goal apiece and Abby Beeley recorded an assist. Averie Bolduc played well defensively for Salem (1-1).

No. 9 Oyster River 6, Kingswood 0

Alaina Pryzbilsky scored three goals as the Bobcats grabbed a win over the Knights.

Rowynn Pickering, Rose Goldsmith and Sadie McLeod added a goal apiece for Oyster River (2-0). Rose Paxton had an assist while McLeod, Olivia Andersen and Nora Roger played well defensively.

No. 1 Dover 4, Goffstown 0

Hannah Deroy had two goals to help the Green Wave to a win over the Grizzlies in their opener.

Gaby Anderson added a goal and an assist while Erin Lynch had two assists. Kaela Robins also had a goal and Alexis Clough had an assist.

Scarlett Gray made two saves for Dover (1-0) while the Green Wave had 16 penalty corners.

Derryfield 5, Lebanon 0

Ava Kosakowski scored twice as the Cougars grabbed their first win of the season against the Raiders.

Chloe Bremberg added a goal and an assist for Derryfield (1-1) while Ella LaFlame and Emma Branch also had a goal each. Tyl-Elle Fulton recorded an assist and Jess Avalon finished with seven saves.

No. 4 John Stark 1, Hanover 0

The Generals opened their season with a road win over the Bears in D2 action.

Addie DeCew scored the game’s only goal with Claudia Dustin picking up an assist.

Concord 6, Nashua North 0

The Crimson Tide picked up their second win in as many days, beating the Titans at home.

Lilly Merrill and Ally McGonigle had two goals apiece while Eliana Wong also scored and Emma Pelletier scored her first varsity goal.

Winnacunnet 1, Merrimack 0

McKinley Fowler scored the only goal the Warriors needed in their win over the Tomahawks.

Girls Volleyball

Hollis Brookline 3, Pinkerton 2

The Cavaliers opened the season by coming back from a two-game deficit to beat the Astros. Game scorers were 14-25, 26-28, 25-13, 25-22 and 15-7.

Anika Carlson had nine aces and seven kills for HB while Maggie Noble had 10 kills and five aces and Kate Berrigan added 10 kills and three aces.

Lolly Adair finished with 13 kills and Alana Adams recorded five aces.
