Around the Granite State: Weekend Roundup

The Bedford High School football time racked up over five hundred yards of offense Saturday to get a 35-21 win over Thornton Academy, of Saco, Maine.

Jack Maye completed 16 of 19 passes for 237 yards with two touchdowns and an interception and he ran for another 18 yards and a score. Peter Suozzo caught both touchdown passes from Maye, as he had five catches for 109 yards.

Brody Helton added 178 yards rushing and two scores on 18 carries and Bennett Matthews added 158 yards of offense.

The Bulldogs (1-0 in D1, 2-0 overall, No. 1 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) trailed 7-0 after one quarter, but tied the game at 14 before halftime. Bedford outscored the Trojans 21-7 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

No. 6 Alvirne 20, No. 5 Salem 13

The Broncos rallied for the win, scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter to comeback and beat the Blue Devils on Friday.

Mike Landmesser had 92 yards rushing, including a 36-yard touchdown, and he also also returned a fumble for a touchdown. Shayne Mackey had nine tackles, with four for loss, and Shawn Boudreau had six tackles and two sacks.

Field Hockey

Bow 4, Kingswood 1

The Falcons improved to 5-1 on the season with the win over the Knights on Friday.

Kaylee Jacques had a goal and an assist to lead Bow while Jules Cusson, Peyton Vaughn and Shire Kelley also had a goal apiece.

Gianna Trott, Caly Poitras and Elise Jacques each had an assist in the win.

No. 2 Dover 1, Salem o (OT)

The Blue Devils took the Green Wave to overtime on Friday after a scoreless regulation, thanks to the goaltending of Zeynep Yildirim.

Souhegan 6, Lebanon 2

The Sabers moved to 2-2 on the year with a road win over the Raiders.

Ori Dart had four goals to lead Souhegan while Eme Godin had a goal and two assists. Bela Goulet also scored while Elle Russell, Cahlin Kilbane and Hanalia Dykstra each had an assist.

Amelia Warecki made six saves in the win.

Lebanon got goals from Mackenzie Ray and Savannah Therriault while Meghanne Cheevers made 15 saves.

Girls Volleyball

Goffstown 3, Hollis Brookline 0

The Cavaliers dropped their first match of the season, falling to the Grizzlies by scores of 25-21, 27-25 and 26-24.

Kate Berrigan had six kills and four aces for HB (2-1) while Lolly Adair had six kills and two aces. Maggie Noble added three kills and four aces and Hershey Vedule had two aces.
