Around the Granite State: Windham boys lacrosse holds off Manchester
Here are results from Friday’s high school sports action.
MANCHESTER – Sam Kramer had three goals to help lead the Windham High School boys lacrosse team to a 7-3 win Friday night over Manchester.
Josh Trudel added two goals and an assist and Drew Grzyb (one assist) and Evan Ardizzone each had a goal. Evan DellOrfano recorded two assists for the Jaguars (2-1 in Division I), while Anthony Shi finished with nine saves.
Brady Harrison, Caden Tripp and Jackson Ulbin-Moran each had a goal for the Kings (1-2). Cam Roberge made 11 saves in goal.
No. 6 Derryfield 14, Goffstown 10
Emerson Stover scored five goals to help lead the Cougars to a road win over the Grizzlies, the 300th career win for Derryfield coach Chris Hettler.
Dom Cercone added four goals and RJ Proulx had three goals and two assists for Derryfield (2-0, No. 6 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll). Brady Doldo recorded two goals and an assist and Ryan Maxwell finished with five assists.
Liam England had 10 saves and Jackson Hatfield and Dylan Clyne combined for 16 of 27 faceoffs.
Goffstown (1-1) got three goals from Wyatt Bradley while Bennett Morgan and Tyler Lessard had two goals apiece. Kai Tupper, Trevor Spofford and Issac Robinson each had a goal and Carter Smedick and Jason Matatall had an assist each.
No. 5 Portsmouth 14, Hanover 2
The Clippers got out to a 10-0 lead in the first half and cruised past a shorthanded Bears team.
Reilly Collins had four goals and two assists and Henry Purcell scored three goals to lead Portsmouth (2-0).
Sam Biddle also scored and was 8 of 10 on faceoffs while Alec Lawton, Thijs Beelan, Cortland Barr, Finn Moran, Chase Eberhardt and Masi Shone had a goal apiece.
Kai Paterson had four saves and Ethan Lander and Andy Brown played well defensively.
Dover 14, Nashua North 4
Cooper Ketcham had four goals and an assist to help the Green Wave pick up the win over the Titans.
Ben Tower added three goals and Parker Ketcham had two goals and three assists. Logan Carter had three goals and an assist and Tobey Desroches scored two goals and had two assists for Dover (1-1).
Kyle Behan also added an assist and Owen Wood went 16 of 18 on faceoffs. Ethan Morin picked up six groundballs and Danny Bretz had nine saves.
North (0-2) got three goals from Dylan Noble and Josh Parsons made 11 saves.
No. 8 Winnacunnet 14, Spaulding 3
Alec Mitchell had three goals and an assist to help lead the Warriors past the Red Raiders.
Beckett Rath and Spencer Ziegler had three goals apiece for Winnacunnet (2-1) and Liam McNally had a goal and four assists.
Brian McCown and Anthony Magri scored two goals apiece while Burke Spalding had two assists and Braden Nowak added one. Mitchell and Chris Choquette combined to handle faceoffs.
Timberlane 14, Souhegan 4
Landon Petry scored five times to help lead the Owls to a win over the Sabers.
Rocco Psareas added three goals and three assists in the win while Gio Recesso also had three goals and recorded an assist. Cam Bonfiglio had a goal and an assist and Bradyn Gillespie and Dylan Linbald had a goal apiece.
Gavin Dubois chipped in with two assists and Joseph Cruz had one assist while Mark St. Jean won 14 of 22 faceoffs and Joseph Hughes made eight saves.
Hollis Brookline 13, Pembroke 4
The Cavaliers fell behind early on the road but picked up a win over the Spartans, getting goals from seven players.
Sam Petrella, Mike O’Hearn, Bennett Torgersen, Colin Magnuszewski, Luke Kinney, JP Torgersen and Noah Taylor all contributed to the scoring for HB (2-0).
Levi Mitchell finished with seven saves for the Cavs, as the defense held Pembroke to one goal in the second half.
Kennett 19, Stevens 2
The Eagles picked up their first win of the year in their first home game of the year against the Cardinals.
JJ Baker had three goals and three assists for Kennett (1-1) and Cam Fusco added three goals for the Eagles.
Girls Lacrosse
No. 1 Portsmouth 9, No. 4 Pinkerton 7
The Clippers pulled ahead in the second half to hand the Astros their first loss of the year.
Hannah Lisauskas had three goals and two assists to lead Pinkerton (1-1) and Delanie Summers had two goals and an assist. Ava Micheline and Sookie Folsom added a goal apiece while Sara DiClemente made six saves.
Laconia 12, Coe-Brown 11
Ava Currier scored with 17 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Sachems a win over the Bears.
Coe-Brown got two goals each from Avery Keefe, Brooke Kozlowski and Natalie George. Addison Roy finished with three assists while Ellie Escabi, Morgan Readel, Bella Tenney, Alexis Thomas and Molly Skahan had a goal apiece.
Winnacunnet 16, Spaulding 1
Elle Emery scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Warriors past the Red Raiders.
Emily Arlington Kiala Roy had two goals and an assist apiece while McKinley Fowler and Teagan Rooney each had two goals. Addy McErlain chipped in with a goal and two assists.
Ari Rizzo added a goal and an assist while Emmy Granger, Sky Mace and Olive Needham had a goal apiece for Winnacunnet.
Payton Boumel had the lone goal for Spaulding while Izzy Orrell finished with eight saves.
Merrimack 24, Alvirne 3
Riley Taylor had four goals and four assists and Payton Trepaney also scored four times as the Tomahawks cruised past the Broncos.
Ava Martin and Brooklynn Hilyard each added three goals and an assist while Jackie Hayes had two goals and Lexi Bell had a goal and an assist.
Lyla Carls, Summer Dalbec-Joyal, Liv Mitchell, Natalia Williams, Avery Gauthier, Ava Woods and Syd Capen chipped in a goal each for Merrimack (3-0). Sophia Richard finished with five saves.
Alvirne got a goal apiece from Reese Durkee, Audriena Chipperini and Cadence Bice.
Boys Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Souhegan 1
The Cavaliers battled back from an opening-game loss to beat the Sabers. Game scores were 27-29, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-14.
Ethan Norris led HB with 16 kills, five aces and 20 digs, giving him a school-record 438 career digs. Norris also holds the school record for career aces with 129.
James Kelley had six kills for the Cavs and Sam Hersey recorded 30 assists.
