The Windham High School football team took advantage of opportunities Saturday afternoon and rolled to a 44-13 win over Nashua South at Stellos Stadium.
NASHUA – The Windham High School football team took advantage of opportunities Saturday afternoon and rolled to a 44-13 win over Nashua South at Stellos Stadium.
Tiger An rushed for 47 yards and two touchdowns and the Jaguars (1-1) defense and special teams forced four turnovers, as they scored 14 points off those miscues. Windham had just 50 yards of offense in the first quarter, but led 21-0 at the end of one and 41-6 at halftime.
Jake Micciche also had two touchdowns, scoring in a 37-yard run and on a 42-yard completion from Josh Sweeney. Brandon Beland and David Croteau added rushing touchdowns and Liam Burke hit a 35-yard field goal in the second half.
South (0-2) was led by quarterback Karsten Lemire, who was 11 of 21 passing for 93 yards and an interception, while also rushing for 18 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Emmons add a 4-yard touchdown run while also catching three passes for 17 yards.
Exeter 35, Champlain Valley (Vt.) 21
Ethan Moss ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns as the Blue Hawks jumped out to an early lead and held on for the win.
Desmond Rugg scored on a 77-yard touchdown run in the opening minute and finished with 98 yards on the ground, while Bradley Richards also scored a rushing touchdown and Evan Delorie had a 79-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Winnisquam 20, Bishop Brady 13
Alex Nichols threw two touchdown passes to Anthony Boomer to give the Bears a lead they’d never let up in the Division IV opener for both teams.
Brady Palmer added a rushing touchdown in the first half to give Winnisquam (1-0) a 20-7 lead going into halftime.
For Bishop Brady (0-1), Josh Gentchos caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Todd Shephard to account for the Giants’ points.
Newport 42, Mascoma Valley 0
Kyle Ashley accounted for four touchdowns and Tyler Gobin carried the load on the ground as the Tigers rolled to a win in their D4 opener.
Ashley ran for two scores and threw for two more, connecting with Kayden Leclair for both. Gobin finished with 150 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the win for Newport (1-0).
