Around the Granite State: Windham girls basketball holds off Nashua South to remain unbeaten

WINDHAM – Meghan Husson scored 16 points to help lead the Windham High School girls basketball team to a 49-36 win Thursday night over Nashua South.

Husson hit two 3-pointers and was 8 of 10 at the free throw line while Lilah Boucher had 12 points, including 6 for 6 at the line. As a team, the Jaguars (8-0 in Division I) were 18 of 26 on free throws, outscoring the Panthers (4-4) by 17 points at the line.

South got 20 points from Nicole De Jesus, as she made three of the team’s seven 3-pointers. Addie Borden hit two 3s for six points.

Boys Basketball

Belmont 50, St. Thomas 48

The Red Raiders scored in the final 30 seconds to beat the Saints and improve to 8-1 in Division III.

Keegan Martinez led Belmont with 19 points and Anakin Underhill added 17 points to help the team bounce back from its first loss. Treshawn Ray chipped in with 14 points.

Alpine Skiing

Pinkerton boys take 5th, girls 8th

The Astros competed in a 12-team race at Pat’s Peak on Thursday, with the boys coming in fifth overall, while the girls came in eighth; Bedford finished first in both.

Jonas Welch led the boys with an eighth-place finish (1:01.03) while Connor Kingsley was 21st (1:16.53) and Parker Kingsley was 23rd (1:17.74). Nick Zagaria came in 53rd overall.

For the girls, Sydney Gonsalves finished 19th overall (1:17.49) while Catherine Terrile was 27th (1:34.2). Emersen Lewis finished in 44th.
