Around the Granite State: Winnacunnet boys lacrosse bounces back with win over Timberlane
Here are results from Thursday’s high school lacrosse action.
One day after seeing its five-game win streak snapped, the Winnacunnet High School boys lacrosse team got back untracked with a 7-4 win Thursday over Timberlane.
Beckett Rath had two goals and two assists and Alec Mitchell scored three goals and was strong on faceoffs for the Warriors (7-2, No. 7 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHHSSports Coaches Poll), who dropped a close game to Portsmouth on Wednesday.
Liam McNally and Brian McCown each had a goal and Hale Dodier and Braden Nowak each had an assist. Joel Williams finished with seven saves and Brayden and Brock Emery played well defensively.
Timberlane (7-2, No. 10) got three goals and an assist from Rocco Psareas while Landon Petry added a goal and an assist. Joseph Hughes finished with 19 saves.
No. 8 Merrimack 10, Windham 5
Max Giles had four goals and an assist to lead the Tomahawks to a win over the Jaguars.
Gabe Gorman (one assist) and Sean Anderson had two goals apiece while Henry Tobin and Peyton Connelly each scored. Mason Tremblay finished with 13 saves for Merrimack (7-4).
Evan Dell Orfano had three goals and three assists to lead Windham (4-6). Sam Kramer added two goals and Anthony Shi finished with 14 saves.
Girls Lacrosse
No. 6 Winnacunnet 17, Timberlane 5
Elle Emery had five goals and two assists to help lead the Warriors to their sixth straight win.
Sky Mace scored four goals and had four assists while McKinley Fowler had three goals and an assist for Winnacunnet (7-1). Sarah Rademacher, Emmy Granger, Ari Rizzo, Olive Needham and Addy McErlain also scored a goal apiece.
Reese Gandt recorded an assist while Madison Brunelle made five saves and Benten Lyford had three saves.
Ella Watts and Aubrey Fitzgerald each had two goals to lead Timberlane (4-4) while Ella Lampron had a goal and an assist to go with nine draw controls.
Kayla Apitz finished with 11 saves while Mia Morrier and Ava Stewart also played well.
No. 10 St. Thomas 19, Bishop Brady 3
Talula Gregg had seven goals to lead the Saints to a road win over the Giants.
Annita Parmalee added four goals and Lizzy Holden had three scores for St. Thomas (6-1). Kensley Harris chipped in with two goals while Reece Anderson, Maia Scanlon and Julia Bryan had a goal apiece.
Scanlon and Chloe Baker split time in goal, combining for six saves, and Lena Shaheen and Ava Lyder also played well defensively.
No. 8 Merrimack 21, Keene-Monadnock 1
A dozen players scored as the Tomahawks improved to 8-0 this season.
Riley Taylor had four goals and three assists to lead Merrimack while Payton Trepaney also had four goals and added an assist. Ava Martin recorded three goals and Ava Woods had two goals and an assist.
Brooklynn Hilyard and Lexi Bell each had a goal and an assist while Lyla Carls, Jackie Hayes, Lily Palmer, Syd Capen, Avery Gauthier and Kyleigh Perella had a goal apiece. Hayes also had eight draw controls and eight groundball, while Taylor had four draw controls and four groundballs.
Sophia Richard finished with two saves while Liv Mitchell also played well.
