Around the Granite State: Winnacunnet field hockey holds off Goffstown (video)
Here are the results from Monday’s high school field hockey action.
GOFFSTOWN – The Winnacunnet High School field hockey team scored twice in a five-minute span in the first half and held off Goffstown late for a 2-1 win Monday.
The Warriors (4-1-1, No. 8 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) got goals from Maddy Garrant and Fiona McAfee, and Sofie Donatelli added an assist. Reese Gandt played well and Amber Morgado made five saves in the win.
Meredith Twomey scored for the Grizzlies (1-5), off an assist from Hailey Hanson. Hope Moulton finished with 24 saves, including 13 in the first quarter, as Winnacunnet kept pressure on the entire 15 minutes.
Garrant finally broke through with 46 seconds left in the first quarter and McAfee made it 2-0 with 11:40 remaining in the second. Twomey cut the lead in half with 8:13 to play and had a couple of chances to tie the game, but couldn’t.

No. 2 Keene 3, No. 1 Bedford 2 (OT)
McKenna Nelson scored on a penalty stroke five minutes into overtime to give the Blackbirds the win over the previously-undefeated Bulldogs.
Maddie Boudle and Olive Thatcher also had goals for Keene (5-1) while Scarlett Miller and Nelson each had an assist. Lola Ballaro, Natalia Gillis, Emily Antosiewicz and Emma Petrovich also played well.
No. 4 Londonderry 3, No. 5 Dover 1
Lexi Padykula scored twice to help the Lancers to a road win over the Green Wave.
Sadie Moore also had a goal for Londonderry (6-0) while Alison Chambers, Eres Delorey and Gemma Murray each had an assist. Abigail Cook (one saves) and Molly Tharrington (two) split time in the win.
Giana Leonardi scored the lone goal for Dover (5-2) while Hannah Deroy had an assist. Scarlett Gray recorded six saves.
Merrimack 3, Concord 0
Jocelyn Theriault had a goal and an assist for the Tomahawks in a road win against the Crimson Tide.
Grace Massey and Genevieve Hill added goals for Merrimack (2-4-1) while Allie Wyand added an assist. Annabelle Cassetty finished with six saves while Jackie Hayes and Kesley Ledoux played well.
Salem 5, Nashua South 1
Lexi Whipple scored a pair of goals and the Blue Devils grabbed a win over the Panthers.
Avery Aliberti had a goal and an assist while Lizzy Barry and Olivia Durkin also scored for Salem (4-2). Penny Ammon, Heather Lee O’Rourke, Piper Dezan and Averie Bolduc had an assist apiece.
South (1-5) got its lone goal from Keegan Dolan on a penalty stroke. Lily Hurd made five saves for the Panthers and Wylie Hart also played well.
No. 6 Souhegan 7, Kennett 1
Ella Normandin recorded three goals for the Sabers in a win over the Eagles.
Mariella Dart added two goals while Ella Russell and Eme Godin also scored for Souhegan (5-0). Ori Dart had two assists and Meredith Heimarck also had a helper while Amelia Warecki made three saves.
Mascoma Valley 7, Winnisquam 1
Makenna Houston had two goals and three assists as the Royals rolled to a win over the Bears.
Sophia Smith added two goals while Tori Petty had a goal and an assist for Mascoma Valley (2-1). Aubrey Elizabeth and Ellie McGrody also scored.
Freshman Addie Irwin made her first varsity start in goal and played well while senior Georgia Kondi played well defensively.
No. 3 Pinkerton 5, Exeter 3
Jada Vasquez had two goals and Gwen Lee had two assists as the Astros got past the Blue Hawks.
Meg Shea added a goal and an assist while Ashley Clouthier and Cara Murray had a goal apiece for Pinkerton (5-1). Fran Doyle and Jordyn Schreiber each had an assist while Molly Kuncik finished with 12 saves.
No. 7 Oyster River 4, Pembroke 0
Rowynn Pickering scored two goals, including the 100th point of her career, to help lead the Bobcats to a win over the Spartans.
Eliza Farwell added a goal and an assist while Rose Paxton also had a goal for Oyster River (6-0).
