Around the Granite State: Winnacunnet girls basketball picks up first win
Here are results from recent high school sports action.
Kaila Roy scored 18 points to help lead the Winnacunnet High School girls basketball team to a 58-40 win Monday night against Spaulding.
Kate Starr was also in double figures with 11 points for the Warriors, who picked up their first win of the season. Ari Bennett added nine points and Izzy Turcotte chipped in eight for Winnacunnet (1-6).
The Red Raiders (1-7) got 14 points from Mackenzie Leblanc and 11 from Sydney Daly while Meagan Uraskevich chipped in seven points. Spaulding had a 26-24 lead after two quarters, but Winnacunnet held a 20-4 edge in the third.
Bedford 61, Wachusett (Mass.) 43
The Bulldogs went on the road Saturday and picked up a win over the Mountaineers behind 18 points from Kate Allard.
Sarah Muir added 13 points, with two 3-pointers, while Eva Zink had 11 points and Mel McCarthy scored nine. Wachusett jumped out to a 9-1 lead early, but Bedford rallied to take a 23-10 lead after one quarter and held the Mountaineers to 19 points in the second half.
Sophie Gibbons led Wachusett with 14 points while Teegan Lanpher had 12 points and Jaelynn Scott had 10.
Alvirne 66, Spaulding 29
The Broncos snapped a three-game skid Saturday with a road win against the Red Raiders.
Alexis Floyd led the way with 22 points, including six 3-pointers, for Alvirne while Courtney Anderson was also in double figures with 15 points.
Spaulding got eight points from Sydney Daly while Damiya Perkins chipped in seven points and Mackenzie LeBlanc had six.
Londonderry 65, Salem 43
The Blue Devils dropped their first game of the regular season to the Lancers on Friday.
Makayla Burns led the way for Salem with 13 points, including two 3s, while Lindsay Goetz had 12 points and Lily George added nine.
Gemma Murray led Londonderry with 23 points and Sammie Sullivan had 22 points while Brooke Eacrett recorded 12 markers.
Gymnastics
Keene competes with Pinkerton, Goffstown
The Blackbirds went on the road Monday for a three-team meet, coming in third (123.7) behind Pinkerton (146.45) and Goffstown (133).
Olivia Adams led the way for Keene, finishing seventh in the all-around, which included a top 10 finish on the floor (eighth), the uneven bars (tied for ninth), the beam (ninth) and the vault (10th).
Erin French finished fifth on the floor and came in tied for ninth on the vault for the Blackbirds, and finished eighth in the all-around.
