As a team, the Spartans (4-2) piled up 540 yards of offense, including 466 on the ground. Willie Miles added 88 rushing yards and a touchdown while Evan Perron had 91 yards rushing and a touchdown and also caught a 35-yard touchdown pass.
Adam King led John Stark (1-5) with 114 yards rushing while Carson Dunn had 44 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Milford suffered a big blow on the final play of the first half when quarterback Harrison Urda suffered a serious injury. On the play, Urda rolled to his left, looking to throw, but instead tucked the ball and started running. Urda slipped one tackle, but was caught along the sidelines by John Stark’s Carson Dunn.
As Dunn made the tackle, Urda’s right leg got caught in the grass and Dunn rolled up on it. The officials immediately signaled for the trainers, and they were able to immobilize Urda’s ankle and foot before an ambulance arrived.
Max Urda, Harrison’s younger brother, came on in the second half at quarterback and threw the touchdown pass to Perron.
