BEDFORD – Anneke McStowe emphasized short passes to the Bedford High School field hockey team throughout the preseason.

When the Bulldogs have stuck to that, they’ve been successful so far this season, including Wednesday.

After getting away from its game early, Bedford got back to it late in the first quarter and held Winnacunnet in check for long stretches of a 3-1 win in a Division I game.
