Bedford holds off Pinkerton to keep top spot in New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll

The Bedford High School football team opened its season with a win and held on to the top spot in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll … barely.

For the second poll in a row, the Bulldogs received 10 first-place votes and came in at No. 1, but the gap between Bedford and No. 2 Pinkerton got a lot smaller. The Astros received six first-place votes, and whichever team was in the top spot on a poll, the other was second.

The next seven places in the poll also remained the same, with Nashua South holding on to No. 3 and Londonderry coming in at No. 4. Exeter rounded out the top five, holding off Salem by just a point, with the Blue Devils taking No. 6 .

Bishop Guertin was close behind at No. 7 and Souhegan remained the lone Division II team in the top 10 at No. 8. Manchester Memorial came in at No. 9 for the second week in a row.

Portsmouth-Oyster River joined the top 10 for the first time, coming in at No. 10 after its season-opening win against Dover. The ClipperCats bumped Windham from the final spot.
