For the first time this year, there is a new No. 1 team in the NHHSSports Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll.
With Portsmouth dropping its first game of the season last week, Bedford pulled ahead and took over the top spot in this week’s poll. The Bulldogs picked up five first-place votes to finish at No. 1 for the first time since the final poll of 2023. Portsmouth held on to three first-place votes while Bishop Guertin had one.
The Bulldogs will take that No. 1 ranking into a challenging week, as they host Souhegan on Monday, go to Portsmouth on Wednesday and travel over the board to face Lincoln-Sudbury (Mass.) on Friday. The Clippers, meanwhile, will host Salem on Monday before the game against Bedford on Wednesday.
Bishop Guertin, which held off Souhegan and Pinkerton for No. 3, has a busy week, starting Monday with a home game against Nashua South. The Cardinals then host Merrimack on Wednesday and go to Windham on Thursday.
Souhegan and Pinkerton moved out of a tie for fourth, with the Sabers taking No. 4 and the Astros round out the top five. After facing Bedford, the Sabers host Exeter on Wednesday and then go to Concord on Friday. Pinkerton goes to Merrimack on Monday and then hosts Londonderry on Wednesday.
Exeter and Winnacunnet traded spots, with the Blue Hawks moving up to No. 6 and the Warriors dropping to No. 7. Exeter hosts Nashua North on Monday before the trip to Souhega, and then also travels to Hollis Brookline on Friday. Winnacunnet, which has been off since April 19, will go to Manchester Memorial-West on Tuesday and then travel to Kingswood on Thursday.
Windham remained at No. 8 before a busy week, as the Jaguars will go to Timberlane on Monday, and after hosting Bishop Guertin, they’ll travel to Hanover on Friday. Nashua South held on to No. 9 and play two road games at Stellos Stadium this week. First, the Panthers take on Bishop Guertin on Monday, then they face Nashua North on Thursday.
Goffstown moves back into the top 10 for the first time since the preseason. The Grizzlies will have a four-game week, starting Monday at Alvirne, before playing three games in three days: at ConVal on Wednesday, home to Keene-Monadnock on Thursday and at Oyster River-Newmarket on Friday.
