A new high school field hockey season is about to get underway, and what better way to start it than with a new team at the top of the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Field Hockey Coaches Poll.
While seven teams garnered a first-place vote, it’s Bedford who takes the top spot in the poll for the first time. The Bulldogs received five first-place votes and were one of just two teams to appear on every ballot, with the other team being Pinkerton, which received one first-place vote and is second in the poll.
Exeter, which got one first-place vote, came in at No. 3 to open the year, while Dover is fourth, after receiving two first-place votes. Winnacunnet (one first-place) round out the top five, while defending Division I champion Keene is sixth, also with vote for the top spot.
Hollis Brookline, the Division II champion last season, comes in at No. 7 and Bishop Guertin, which also received a first-place vote, takes No. 8. Souhegan opens the year at No. 9 in the poll and Londonderry rounds out the top 10.
Nine other teams also received a vote for the preseason top 10.
