Bedford’s Sheridan named Gatorade Football Player of the Year for New Hampshire

Kevin Sheridan has been selected as the Gatorade Football Player of the Year for the state of New Hampshire for the 2023 season.

Sheridan, a senior at Bedford High School, helped lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back Division I championships while playing tight end and linebacker the last two seasons.

This year, Sheridan was a force on defense, recording 81 tackles, 57 of them solo, and 22.5 for loss. That included nine sacks while he also forced seven fumbles. On offense, he caught 16 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown.

“Sheridan is a tremendous two-way impact player,” Timberlane coach Kevin Fitzgerald said. “He’s a dominant run-blocker as a tight end and a matchup problem in the pass game. As an edge player, he is tough to block and creates havoc in the opposing backfield. He is a real difference-maker on both sides.”

Sheridan is also a member of the National Honor Society and has a 3.55 GPA, and volunteers on behalf of his church community, as well as serving as a youth football and lacrosse instructor.

It’s the second time a Bedford player has received the award, as Ryan Toscano also was named the Gatorade POY in 2018. In the five years since, Sheridan is just the second player from an NHIAA school to be selected, joining Nashua North’s Curtis Harris in 2020; the other three went to players from prep schools.
