There wasn’t much movement in this week’s NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll, but after the slate of upcoming games, there could be.
Bishop Guertin remained the top team in the poll, but after losing back-to-back games, the Cardinals surrendered two more first-place votes. Exeter, which remained at No. 2, picked up three first-place votes this week, with Bishop Guertin getting the remaining 15.
The Cardinals will have a chance to secure their hold on the top spot, with games against Bedford and Exeter this week. Bishop Guertin hosts the Bulldogs at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and travels to face the Blue Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Before that game, Exeter will travel to Melrose (Mass.) for a 4 p.m. game on Monday and then host Portsmouth at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Bedford, which took sole possession of No. 3, will also travel to Dover for a 3 p.m. game on Wednesday and go to Westford (Mass.) Academy for a 10 a.m. Saturday game.
Derryfield fell out of a tie for the third spot to take No. 4, as the Cougars will face Kingswood at 4 p.m. Tuesday and go to Spaulding for a 4 p.m. start Friday before traveling to Westwood (Mass.) for a noon game Saturday. Portsmouth moved up a spot to round out the top five; the Clippers will host Souhegan at 4 p.m. on Monday before facing Exeter.
After losing three straight, Pinkerton drops to No. 6 this week, heading into road games at Longmeadow (Mass.) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Nashua South at 6 p.m. on Friday before hosting Hingham (Mass.) at noon on Saturday.
The bottom four teams remained the same, with Timberlane taking the No. 7 spot. The Owls host Oyster River-Newmarket at 4:30 p.m. on Monday and then play at Souhegan at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. St. Thomas stayed at No. 8, as the Saints will play at Concord at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and then host Alvirne at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Londonderry came in at No. 9 and the Lancers will have just one game this week, hosting Concord at 4 p.m. on Friday. Merrimack held on to the final spot, with the Tomahawks taking on Concord on Tuesday and Dover on Friday; both games are at home and will start at 11 a.m.
