To the victors belong the spoils, so with the Bishop Guertin High School boys lacrosse team besting Bedford in last week’s highly-anticipated matchup, the Cardinals are once again the team atop the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll.
The Cardinals received all 17 first-place votes for the first time since the preseason poll, while the Bulldogs were unanimous choice at No. 2 this week. Bishop Guertin will play at Salem on Monday before hosting Boston College High on Thursday and Nashua North on Friday, while Bedford goes to Concord on Monday and hosts Andover on Friday.
Pinkerton and Exeter remained at Nos. 3 and 4 in the poll and will determine if those spots should hold when they meet on Monday in Derry. The Astros also host Londonderry on Wednesday while the Blue Hawks host Merrimack on Wednesday and Dover on Friday.
Derryfield once again rounds out the top five, as the Cougars go on the road on Monday to Merrimack Valley and on Friday to Hollis Brookline with a home game against Pembroke in between on Wednesday.
Portsmouth came in at No. 6 again and will play three D2 opponents this week, with Oyster River-Newmarket and Goffstown coming to town on Monday and Friday, respectively, and a trip to Winnacunnet on Wednesday. The Warriors moved up a spot to No. 7 as they’ll also go to Alvirne on Monday and Timberlane on Friday.
Merrimack dropped one spot to No. 8 and the Tomahawks go to Goffstown on Monday and Exeter on Wednesday before hosting Windham on Thursday. Londonderry moved back into the poll and will host Dover on Monday and then go on the road to Pinkerton and Keene-Monadnock on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.
Timberlane finished out the top 10 and the Owls will host Spaulding on Monday, go to Oyster River-Newmarket on Wednesday and return home to play Winnacunnet on Friday.
