DURHAM – Things weren’t looking good for the Bishop Guertin High School girls basketball team late in Sunday’s Division I championship game.
Down five points with just under two minutes to play, it started to feel like maybe it wasn’t going to happen on the Cardinals’ bench. On the floor, Brooke Paquette had other plans.
The junior scored seven of her team’s final nine points, including a 3-pointer with just under a minute left that gave No. 5 Bishop Guertin the lead for good, and the Cardinals came back to beat No. 2 Bedford 48-46 to win their sixth title in seven years at the University of New Hampshire’s Lundholm Gym.
