Bishop Guertin girls basketball holds off Bedford to stay unbeaten (video)

BEDFORD – The Bishop Guertin High School girls basketball team overcame some early offensive struggles and Brooke Paquette scored when she needed to to lead the Cardinals to a 73-66 win Friday against Bedford.

Paquette finished with a game-high 30 points, including 15 of 20 at the free throw line, while Meghan Stack added 18 points and Catelyn Wheeler recorded 16 points to help Bishop Guertin (16-0) come back from one of its worst scoring halves of basketball.

The Cardinals were down 18-8 after one quarter and had just 26 points at halftime, but shot 25 of 33 at the free throw for the game, outscoring Bedford (14-2) by 21 points at the line.

Kate Allard led the Bulldogs with 24 points and Layla Stein added 12 points. Lana McCarthy had all 10 of her points in the first half, as the junior sat for most of the third quarter in foul trouble.
