The Cardinals, who lost their first game of the season Saturday to Staples, of Westport, Conn., while the Blue Hawks were able to hold off Acton-Boxborogh (Mass.), also on Saturday, to remain undefeated. Despite hanging on to the top spot for the 15th week in a row, Bishop Guertin wasn’t a unanimous top choice, as Exeter took four first-place votes.
The teams will meet for their lone regular-season meeting Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Nashua. Bishop Guertin travels South again on Thursday, as the Cardinals will play at Boston College High, while Exeter goes to Merrimack on Friday and then hosts Portsmouth on Saturday.
The rest of the top four remained the same, with Pinkerton staying at No. 3 and Portsmouth coming in at No. 4. The Astros will be at home all week, with Nashua North coming in on Monday, then back-to-back games against Souhegan and Medfield (Mass.) on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The Clippers will host Bow on Tuesday before going on the road for that non-division game against the Blue Hawks.
Derryfield moved back up into the top five after a three-win week, and the Cougars have another busy stretch, starting with a top 10-matchup at Winnacunnet on Tuesday. Derryfield then hosts Coe-Brown on Friday and heads to Goffstown on Saturday.
Nashua South climbed a spot to No. 6, and the Panthers will also have busy week, facing Merrimack on Monday, Nashua North on Thursday and Dover on Friday. Winnacunnet moves back into the poll at No. 7, and after Tuesday’s meeting with Derryfield, the Warriors will host Hanover on Thursday and head to Pembroke on Saturday.
Londonderry, which comes in at No. 8 this week, heads to Keene-Monadnock on Monday and then has home games against Concord on Tuesday and Salem on Friday.
Timberlane drops to No. 9 following its first loss of the year, and the Owls go on the road for games at Alvirne on Tuesday and at Bow on Thursday before a rematch of last year’s semifinal with Kingswood on Friday.
Windham, which also lost its first game of year last week and dropped to 10th, will be off most of the week before hosting St. Thomas on Friday.
