It was an unprecedented week for teams in the NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll, but the top remained the same.
Bishop Guertin remained as the No. 1 team for the 31st week in a row, finishing with 16 out of 17 first-place votes; Portsmouth received one vote for the top spot. While the Cardinals status remained the same, there were six teams within the top 10 that lost at least one game last week, leading to eight teams being in a new spot this week.
The Cardinals have a busy week in front of them, as they host Nashua South on Monday, head to Merrimack on Wednesday, and then host Exeter on Friday and Londonderry on Saturday.
Bedford becomes the third team this season to hold the No. 2 spot in the poll, the highest the Bulldogs have ever been ranked. They have two home games this week, against Manchester on Wednesday and Marblehead (Mass.) on Friday.
Portsmouth jumped up to the No. 3 spot following its win over Exeter last Wednesday. The Clippers host St. Thomas on Monday before back-to-back road games at Hollis Brookline on Wednesday and at Winnacunnet on Thursday.
The Blue Hawks dropped to No. 4 this week and will go to Nashua North on Tuesday before returning to Stellos Stadium Friday to face Bishop Guertin. Derryfield fell a spot to No. 5 after losing its first game and the Cougars will look to bounce back in home games against Merrimack Valley on Monday and Goffstown on Friday.
Timberlane moved up to No. 6 this week, flipping spots with Pinkerton. The Owls will go to St. Thomas on Wednesday before traveling to Hanover on Friday. Meanwhile, the Astros continued to drop, coming in at No. 7 with games at home against Merrimack on Monday and Windham on Saturday with a trip to Londonderry in between on Wednesday.
St. Thomas remained at No. 8 with a big week coming up. After going to Portsmouth and hosting Timberlane, the Saints will travel to Kingswood on Friday. Windham moves back into the poll for the first time since the preseason, taking No. 9. The Jaguars will go to Alvirne on Tuesday and then host Spaulding on Friday before traveling to Pinkerton on Saturday.
Londonderry dropped a spot to finish at No. 10, as the Lancers will play four games this week, starting Monday at Dover. Londonderry hosts Pinkerton on Wednesday then goes to Hollis Brookline on Thursday and Bishop Guertin on Saturday.
