The Cardinals are again the top team in the New Hampshire Ortopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll as the 2026 season gets underway. Bishop Guertin received all 17 first-place votes to come in at No. 1 for the 46th-straight week, as the five-time defending Division I champs look to make it a state-record six in a row this spring.
Bishop Guertin opens the season Monday by hosting Londonderry.
Pinkerton, which was the runner-up in D1 last year, came in at No. 2 to open this season, as the Astros head to Salem on Monday to start the year. Bedford was at No. 3 and goes out of state to start 2026 with a game at Thornton Academy of Sacco, Maine.
Exeter came in at No. 4 to start the season, as the Blue Hawks host Windham on Monday. Portsmouth, the defending D2 champion, rounded out the top five and will get the season going Monday against Winnacunnet.
Last year’s runner-up in D2, Derryfield, ends up at No. 6 to start this year, with the Cougars starting the season Wednesday against Londonderry. Winnacunnet grabbed the No. 7 spot while the Lancers came in at No. 8.
Merrimack took the No. 9 spot in the preseason poll, with the Tomahawks hosting Nashua North on Monday. St. Thomas finished out the top 10, as the Saints take on Alvirne to open the season.

The coaches poll is voted on by boys lacrosse coaches from around the state and members of the media. The poll will be updated every Monday throughout the regular season.
