Both Souhegan tennis teams remain undefeated

Both the Souhegan High School boys and girls tennis teams moved to 4-0 on the season with 9-0 wins over Kingswood Regional in Class I action.

Both the Souhegan High School boys and girls tennis teams moved to 4-0 on the season with 9-0 wins over Kingswood Regional in Class I action.

The Sabers’ boys team got singles wins at No. 1 from Sam Protzmann, who defeated David Mesa 8-2, and at No. 2 from Nishon Radhakrishnan, who beat Peter Gibson 8-1. The two then teamed up to beat Mesa and Gibson in the No. 1 doubles match, 8-1.

Nick Poulack defeated Nick Moulton at No. 3 singles, 8-2,  and Nate Redington knocked off Alden Garland, 8-5, at No. 4 for Souhegan. Poulack and Redington also beat Moulton and Garland in the No. 2 doubles match, 8-4.

Liam Murphy cruised to an 8-0 win over Niles Babcok at No. 5 singles while Matt Protzmann defeated Ryan McManus, 8-1, at No. 6. Murphy and Matt Protzmann also beat Babcok and McManus, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles.

Girls

The Souhegan girls remained unbeaten as well, winning 9-0 over Kingswood. Emily Readdy got the win at No. 1 singles, beating Michelle Tuttle, 8-0, while Alex Silva won at No. 2, knocked off Nikki Pamponio, 8-1. The match was the first time this season that Silva has lost a game.

Mia Ommundsen moved up to No. 3 and defeated Sarah Coulter, 8-6. Souhegan’s Caroline Hagen got the win at No. 4 with an 8-0 victory against Rhianna Llewellyn.

Maura Belanger won at No. 5, beating Meghan Rothermel, 8-3, and Rebecca Trouwee defeated Jess Lapar at No. 6, 8-2. Belanger and Trouww also teamed up to win the No. 3 doubles match, 8-0.

Readdy and Silva knocked off Tuttle and Pamponio, 8-1, in the No. 1 doubles match, while Hagen and Ommundsen defeated Coulter and Susan Dannett, 8-3, at No. 2.
