Boys Lacrosse Playoff Roundup: Nashua South comes back to knock off Windham (video)
Here are results from Thursday’s high school boys lacrosse playoff action.
WINDHAM – The Nashua High School South boys lacrosse team rallied from a four-goal deficit late in the third quarter and then held off Windham in the final seconds to get a 10-9 win Thursday in the first round of the Division I playoffs.
Owen Roy had five goals, all of which came during the final 14 minutes of the game, to lead the No. 9 Panthers (9-10) to their first playoff win since 2016.
Raiden Nuy-Chao added two goals and two assists while helping South win 16 of 22 faceoffs. Max Signoroni also had a goal and two assists and Grant Imbeault had a goal and an assist while Jason Brinley also scored.
Cody Jackson and Tyler Benzekri had two assists apiece and Bryce Stuart recorded 12 saves.
Sam Kramer and Evan DellOrfano had two goals and two assists apiece while Cam Terry also scored twice for the No. 8 Jaguars (9-8), who were making their first postseason appearance in D1 and had beaten South twice during the regular season, including 16-5 on May 27.
Ethan Peluso and Evan Ardizzone had a goal and an assist each and Josh Trudel also scored. Jack Tanso finished with 11 saves.
The Panthers move on to the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Saturday at No. 1 Bedford.
Division II Playoffs
No. 7 Kingswood 15, No. 10 Souhegan 5
The Sabers saw the season come to an end with a first-round road loss to the Knights.
Mason Mobley had two goals for Souhegan (5-12) while Reid Kimball had a goal and an assist. Garrett Powers and Nate Hill also had a goal apiece and Sean Reardon finished with seven saves.
Division III Playoffs
No. 6 Bishop Brady 14, No. 11 John Stark 7
Joey Richardson had five goals and two assists to lead the Giants to a first-round win over the Generals.
Ryan Haught added three goals and three assists for Bishop Brady (11-6) while Keaton Smith scored twice and Thadius Schmolke had a goal and an assist.
The Giants will play in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. on Saturday at No. 3 Plymouth.
No. 8 Campbell 10, No. 9 Gilford 8
The Cougars got the playoffs win over the Golden Eagles, avenging a loss at Gilford last week.
Tyler Breton had three goals and Matthew DeCarli had two goals and two assists to lead Campbell (8-8). Evan Molino and Logan Ercha added two goals apiece.
Eddie Mahoney scored a goal and had an assist and Sam Morrison added a helper while Will O’Brien finished with 10 saves.
The Cougars will face No. 1 Coe-Brown in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. Saturday in Northwood.
