Boys Lacrosse Roundup: Hopkinton picks up win over Pelham (video)
Here are results from Thursday’s high school boys lacrosse action.
PELHAM – The Hopkinton High School boys lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and held off Pelahm for a 16-9 win Thursday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Jackson Westover had six goals to lead the Hawks (11-3) while Owen Buss had two goals and three assists and Shane Smith had two goals and two assists. Ollie Zahn and Evan Gregory added two goals apiece while Kip Hedquist (one assist) and Chet Behner also scored.
Rowan Boyle added two assists for Hopkinton and Jacob Lanman finished with 14 saves.
Jake Suliveras led the Pythons (6-9) with four goals while CJ Sawyer (one assist) and Chris Swiniarksi added two goals apiece. Noah Johnson also scored and Aidan Cote had an assist.
Souhegan 6, Hanover 5 (OT)
The Sabers went back on the road to replay the fourth quarter of a game against the Bears from May 11 and came home with a win.
Mason Mobley scored 1:25 into overtime, off an assist from Nate Hill, to give Souhegan (4-11) the win after Judd Harris had sent it to overtime on a goal with 1:28 remaining.
Liam Bacon also had a goal in the fourth quarter and Hill finished with two assists. Sean Reardon made five saves.
The replay happened due to a successful protest of the game by the Sabers after officials incorrectly measured a Souhegan player’s stick in between the third and the fourth quarter. At the time, Hanover led 5-3.
No. 7 Derryfield 13, Oyster River-Newmarket 6
Garrett Lande had four goals and two assists as the Cougars finished off the regular season by snapping the Bobcats’ eight-game win streak.
Dom Cercone scored three goals to go with an assist and Emerson Stover and Vittorio Masoni had two goals apiece for Derryfield (15-2). Ryan Maxwell dished out three assists and Jackson Hatfield and Patrick Masoni each had a goal.
Heath Mueller and Lukas Gaff each recorded an assist while Hatfield was 10 of 16 facing off and Liam England made 10 saves.
Cole Levesque and Demitrius Tsakiris had two goals apiece for ORN (11-4) while Parker Oulette had a goal and an assist. Camden Ayotte also had a goal and Grant Norris made nine saves.
