Boys Lacrosse Roundup: Pinkerton rallies, but Winchester pulls out win (video)
Here are results from Saturday’s high school boys lacrosse action.
DERRY – Down five goals in the third quarter Saturday, the Pinkerton Academy boys lacrosse team came back to tie the game in the fourth, but Winchester (Mass.) scored late to get a 14-13 win.
Cade Johnston scored four goals to led the Astros (9-2, No. 2 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll), including two during a 4-0 run to start the fourth quarter that helped tie the game at 13.
Levi Weaver added three goals and Matt Gormady had two goals and four assists for Pinkerton while Jackson Farrel had two goals and an assist, including the game-tying goal with 8:02 remaining. Jack Ford and Ryson Michaud each had a goal and an assist while Tyler Pinardi had three assists.
Brendan Carney and Sam Leo led the defense while Pinardi and Dylan Stingel controlled faceoffs.
Winchester (14-0) got three goals each from Ryan Martin (one assist), Andrew Mango and Will Mango, who scored the game-winning goal with 3:47 remaining.
Longmeadow (Mass.) 10, No. 3 Bedford 6
The Bulldogs went out-of-state and fell on the road to the Lancers (10-4).
Cobe Rubin led the way for Bedford (8-3) with three goals and an assist while Bennett Matthews, Dax Bekar and Drew Paskalis had a goal apiece. Bryce D’Urso added an assist and Ethan Conn made 12 saves.
Staples 9, No. 1 Bishop Guertin 5
Drew Redfern had three goals for the Cardinals but it wasn’t enough against the Wreckers (10-3), from Westport, Conn., in a game played at UMass-Amherst.
Sean McGarry added a goal and an assist and Hudson Schmitt had two assists for Bishop Guertin (8-3). Jack Redfern had a goal and Ryan Baker added an assist.
