Calm before the storm in this week’s NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll

The 10 teams in the NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll remained the same this week, with just two teams flipping spots, but a lot could change after this week.

As it has all season, Bishop Guertin remained at the top of the poll after picking up a pair of wins over Bedford. The Cardinals have a makeup game on Monday against Nashua South and then face Nashua North twice this week.

The first big showdown of the week pits the second and third teams in the poll, with Exeter and Pinkerton playing each other twice. The Blue Hawks are coming off a pair of wins over Concord while the Astros got a win over South and a win over Concord last week. Both teams also play Saturday, with Exeter taking on Winnacunnet and Pinkerton hosting Windham.

Londonderry held on to No. 4 in the poll after getting two wins over Nashua North; the Lancers will play Souhegan twice this week.

Coming in at No. 5 for the second straight week is Portsmouth, which got a pair of wins over St. Thomas and also knocked off Merrimack. The Clippers have a pair of big games against Winnacunnet this week. Bedford, which held on to sixth, is off this week after dropping two games against Bishop Guertin.

Derryfield bounced back from its first loss with a pair of wins over Hopkinton, and the Cougars will face off against St. Thomas twice this week. Nashua South, which returned to action after a two-week pause, moved up to eighth after dropping a game to Pinkerton and beating Souhegan. Along with Monday’s game against the Cardinals, the Panthers will also face Merrimack twice this week.

Winnacunnet dropped a spot to ninth despite getting a win over Dover and two victories against Spaulding. Hollis Brookline dropped its first game of the year last week, but salvaged a split with Souhegan. The Cavaliers play two games against Milford this week.
