The Coe-Brown Northwood Academy boys track team won just one event Sunday, but the Bears placed in six others on the way to their third Division II indoor championship in four years at Plymouth State University.
Brogan Grzybowski won the 55-meter hurdles for Coe-Brown’s only first-place, but the team racked up points in the 1,500 and 3,000 and placed in all three relays to claim the title.
Coe-Brown scored 61 points to finish first, while Souhegan took home 50 points to come in second. ConVal (36) edged out St. Thomas (35) for third and Oyster River (32) rounded out the top five.
A few records were also broken during the meet, with ConVal’s Ross Stephens setting breaking the state record in the 300-meter dash. His time of 34.73 seconds topped the record of 35.02 set by Manchester Central’s Dominique Worsley in 2005.
Souhegan’s Brody Smith took second in the 300, but his time of 35.17 was faster than the D2 record time of 35.36, set by Hanover’s Tyler Dodds in 2006. Smith also teamed with Ryan Stone, Owen Pisinski and John Katsel to win the 4×200-meter relay with a D2 record time of 1 minutes, 34.27 seconds, breaking a division record of 1:34.46 the Sabers relay team set in 2024.
Pelham’s Osinachi Nwabueze won the long jump with leap of 22-feet, 9.5-inches, to set a D2 record. Nwabueze broke the record of 22-1.5, set by Trinity’s Rere Edokpolo in 2024.
