Coe-Brown starts fast, holds off Bow to win D3 boys lacrosse title for first time

The Coe-Brown Northwood Academy boys lacrosse team got off to a strong start in Saturday’s Division III championship game and held off Bow to get a 15-8 win for the program’s first title.
The top-seeded Bears (17-0) scored three times in the first five minutes of the game, but the No. 2 Falcons (14-3) got within one, 5-4, in the second quarter. But goals by Glenn Papineau, Sam Frye, Joseph Fenton and Garrett Ward in the final three minutes of the half gave Coe-Brown a 9-4 lead it wouldn’t let up.
Frye finished with a team-high four goals to go with an assist while Fenton (two assists) and Ward (one) added three goals apiece. Papineau recorded two goals and two assists while Charlie Frye also scored twice and Myles Brackett had a goal.
Robert Lee finished with two assists while Colby Strum, Abe Szatko and Rorik Collins added an assist each. Jackson Alie finished with 12 saves and Xander Ballou was 14 of 21 on faceoffs.
Bow got three goals apiece from TJ Ingalls and Wyatt Premo while Sam Bennett and Parker Kazanowski also had a goal each. Nikos Mallios had two assists and Brad Ekstrom made 12 saves.
