NASHUA – There are slow starts, and then there’s how the Concord High School girls lacrosse team started Thursday’s game against Nashua South.
NASHUA – There are slow starts, and then there’s how the Concord High School girls lacrosse team started Thursday’s game against Nashua South.

The Crimson Tide were scoreless for more than 17 minutes to open the game, but trailed just 2-0 when coach Steph Johnson called a timeout.
Whatever Concord talked about worked, as the Tide outscored the Panthers by 13 goals the rest of the way to grab an 18-7 win at Stellos Stadium.
Rony Daniels and Delana Erickson led the way with four goals each for Concord (2-3) while Becca Proulx had three goals and Steph Resnick added two. The Tide led 4-3 at halftime, and 10-6 with 10 minutes gone in the second half, but closed the game on an 8-1 run to get their second straight win.
“Pull it together and play our game because we weren’t playing the way we were capable,” Johnson said her message to the team was. “We definitely started slow. We picked up the level of our play and we need to make sure for future games that we don’t have that happen. No matter what team we’re playing, just stay aggressive the whole time and not give up.”
South (0-3) got four goals from Maddie Coughlin, but no one else had more than one. Kat Tenney made 15 saves in goal.
The problem for the Panthers came on the draw, as they were unable to win enough of them in the second half to keep possession away from Concord.
“Possession is the best defense,” South coach Meg Ackerman said. “Every time, whoever got it off the draw, scored. When we were winning the draw control, we were controlling the game.
“The girls played great. We’ve been building. We came out strong and scored the first two goals. We were ready, and they wanted it, they were fighting for it.”
South returns to action Friday at Manchester Central while Concord will take on Pinkerton on April 28.
