The Salem High School girls basketball team took control of Monday’s Division I preliminary-round game early and never looked back.

The No. 7 Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter over No. 10 Alvirne and rolled to a 43-29 win over the Broncos. Salem will now face No. 2 Londonderry in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Lindsay Goetz led Salem (13-6) with 13 points while Ella Mosto added nine points and Makayla Burns chipped in with eight points.

Alvirne (10-9) got nine points from Julia Adams and seven points from Courtney Anderson.

No. 1 Bedford 79, No. 16 Manchester Central-West 21

Kate Allard scored 20 points to help lead the Bulldogs to a first-round playoff win over Central-West.

Mel McCarthy added 19 points for Bedford (19-0) and Ella Allard hit three 3-pointers and finish in double figures, with 11 points. Ava Collins also had a pair of 3s and seven points.

Central-West (6-13) got 14 points from Tianna Mann, but no one else had more than three points.

Bedford will now host No. 9 Exeter in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

No. 4 Concord Christian 55, No. 13 Keene 42

The Blackbirds saw their season come to an end in a road playoff loss to the Kingsmen.

McKenna Nelson had 12 points and six rebounds to lead Keene and Harper Zalaski had eight points and 10 boards.

No. 3 Windham 53, No. 14 Nashua North 43

The Jaguars advanced in the tournament with 10-point win over the Titans.

Lilah Boucher led the way for Windham with 16 points and Rileigh Finneran added 13 points, as the Jaguars will host No. 6 Pinkerton on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
