HAMPTON – For the second straight game to start the season, the Derryfield School boys lacrosse team got out to a comfortable lead against a tough opponent.

And for the second straight game, the Cougars had to sweat it out until the final moments to keep their winning streak alive.

Derryfield led Winnacunnet by as many as five goals in the third quarter, but the Warriors outscored the Cougars 4-0 over the final 15 minutes, making it a one-goal game with 21 seconds remaining. In the end, Derryfield was able to hang on for a 9-8 win in Division II action, the Cougars’ 55th win in a row.
