EXETER – When it was all over, Chris Hettler wasn’t surprised Chili Cabot was the one who delivered the overtime goal in Sunday’s Division II championship game.
With the Derryfield School and Portsmouth High School boys lacrosse teams tied halfway through the extra period, the ball was rolling around on the ground in front of the Clippers goal. And then all of a sudden, it wasn’t.
Cabot, who had been the intended target of a pass from Ethan Flanagan, scooped up the groundball, moved around the scrum, and before anyone could react, fired a lefthanded shot toward the far side of the net.
