EXETER – The Derryfield School boys lacrosse team went into Saturday’s Division II championship game against Winnacunnet believed it had a game plan that was going to work.
Even after a scoreless first quarter, the Cougars felt if they stuck to the plan, it was going to work, and it did.
No. 1 Derryfield scored four goals in a little less than five minutes in the second quarter to take the lead and the defense shut out No. 2 Winnacunnet until late in the fourth quarter to take a 9-1 win and the program’s fourth D2 title in a row at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter.
