MANCHESTER – There was one important thing that Chris Hettler had to say to the Derryfield School boys lacrosse team at halftime of Friday’s game against St. Thomas.

The Cougars needed two goals late in the second quarter to take a two-goal lead into the break, but it was the first time they’d been within striking distance of the opponent this season. Derryfield carried that momentum into the second half, opening with a 3-0 run, and the Cougars held off the Saints for a 12-6 win in a matchup of teams at the top of the Division II standings.
