PLYMOUTH – Rosie Blake felt some nerves as she lined up to take a penalty stroke in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s Division II field hockey playoff game.
The Derryfield School freshman took a moment to remind herself there was no place she’d rather be and made the stroke to send the game with Plymouth to overtime.
After two scoreless extra frames, Blake found herself again at the stroke line, with a chance to end the game, and again, she fought off any nerves to make it happen. Her successful attempt gave No. 10 Derryfield a 3-1 win in the shootout, and a 2-1 win over No. 7 Plymouth in the D2 preliminary round.
