Dover claims the top spot this week in the NHHSSports Field Hockey Coaches Poll

The playoffs are about to get underway, and when they start, there will be a new No. 1 team in the NHHSSports Field Hockey Coaches Poll.

After beating Windham 1-0 in Friday’s regular-season finale, Dover swapped spots with the Jaguars, taking over the top position for the first time. The Green Wave also ended Windham’s five-week run as the top team.

Bishop Guertin held on to No. 3 in the poll and John Stark, which will be the top seed in Division II, remained at No. 4. Exeter, after a finale win over Pinkerton, moved up to No. 5, dropping the Astros one spot to No. 6.

Kennett moved up a spot to seventh while Oyster River, which dropped two spots, came in at No. 8. Concord jumped a spot to No. 9 and Souhegan moved back into the poll for the first time in three weeks, coming in at No. 10.

Here is the NHHSS Field Hockey Coaches Poll for this week. These are the top 10 field hockey teams in the state, with record, first-place votes/points (T=tie), and previous ranking.

  7. Kennett (12-2), 32, 8th
  8. Oyster River (11-3), 28, 6th
  9. Concord (10-5-1), 12, 10th
  10. Souhegan (10-2-2), 9, NR

Dropped out: Hollis Brookline.

Others receiving votes: Goffstown (10-3-1), 7; Winnacunnet (10-5-1), 7; Bedford (8-6-2), 6; Gilford (13-1), 4; Keene (7-6-3), 4; Hollis Brookline (10-4), 2, 9th; Timberlane (6-9-1), 1.

There will be no poll next week and a final poll on Oct. 31.
