The Dover High School field hockey team claimed its first championship in 48 years Sunday and now the Green Wave are also the top team on the final NHHSSports Coaches Poll for 2023.

Dover finishes season at the top of the NHHSSports Field Hockey Coaches Poll

The Dover High School field hockey team claimed its first championship in 48 years Sunday and now the Green Wave are also the top team on the final NHHSSports Coaches Poll for 2023.

Dover received all nine first-place votes to finish at No. 1, the second straight poll the Green Wave have been at the top of, after defeated Windham 3-1 in the Division I championship game. The Jaguars held on to second place in the final poll.

Bishop Guertin, which lost to Windham in the D1 semifinals, came in third, and John Stark, the D2 champion for the second year in a row, came in a few points behind at No. 4. Exeter, which fell in the D1 semifinals to Dover, rounded out the top five.

Kennett, the D2 runner-up, moved up a spot from the last poll to finish sixth, trading spots with Pinkerton, which came in seventh after falling in the D1 quarterfinals to Exeter. Concord move up to eighth and saw its season end in the D1 quarterfinals against Bishop Guertin.

Gilford, the back-to-back D3 champs, moved into the poll for the first time this year at No. 9, while Souhegan, which lost to John Stark in the D2 semis, rounded out the poll at No. 10.

Here is the NHHSS Field Hockey Coaches Poll for this week. These are the top 10 field hockey teams in the state, with record, first-place votes/points (T=tie), and previous ranking.
