Football Roundup: Windham wins opener for first time since 2017
Here’s a look at football results from the first week of the regular season.
WINDHAM – Jack Koutrobis scored three touchdowns and the Windham High School football team shut out Timberlane in the second half on the way to a 53-7 win Saturday.
Koutrobis finished with 154 yards of offence, scoring on receptions of 18 and 51 yards while adding a 7-yard rushing score. Kevin Murphy completed 9 of 12 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for another score.
The Jaguars (1-0) piled up 355 yards on offense while holding the Owls (0-1) to just 117, including 22 yards in the second half.
Jeremy Mlocek completed just 5 of 13 passes for 40 yards and two interceptions and had Timberlane’s lone touchdown, scoring on a 2-yard run to start the second quarter. That gave the Owls a 7-0 lead that didn’t last.
Windham scored three times before halftime to take an 18-7 lead into the break, the last of those scores coming on a 16-yard interception return by Reid Lambert. The Jaguars then added three scores in the final 3:05 of the third quarter to break the game open.
Chris Brearley, Brady Clementi and Liam McGrail each had a touchdown in the second half for Windham.
The win is the first for the Jaguars in a season opener since moving up to Division I in 2018. Their last season-opening win came against Hollis Brookline to open the 2017 season when they were in D2.
Alvirne 35, Manchester Central 14
Mike Landmesser ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Broncos (1-0) to a season-opening win on Friday.
Ryan Rocheleau added 90 yards receiving and caught a touchdown pass and Jeremiah Yi had two interceptions for Alvirne, which led 28-0 at halftime.
Winnacunnet 30, Portsmouth-Oyster River 20
Mason McDaonald had 112 yards on the ground to go with a touchdown and the Warriors (1-0) had 248 yards rushing as a team.
Riley McDaniel added two touchdowns through the air and had a big interception in the fourth quarter.
The ClipperCats (0-1) got 73 yards and two touchdowns on the ground from Porter Lalime while Andy Brown threw for 190 yards and a score.
Concord 17, Goffstown 14
Colby Nyhan hit a 37-yard field goal with three seconds left to give the Crimson Tide the win over the Grizzlies.
Nyhan added had a rushing touchdown in the first half and Colin Savard also ran for another scored for Concord (1-0).
Jayden Pares had two touchdowns rushing for Goffstown (0-1).
Monadnock 12, Somersworth 7
Liam Hart had a pair of touchdown runs to lead the Huskies (1-0) to a season-opening win over the Hilltoppers in Division III.
Jackson Dumont made his first start at quarterback for Somersworth (0-1) and had the team’s lone touchdown on the ground.
