Four from NH named among top girls lacrosse prospects by Inside Lacrosse

The start of September isn’t just about the return to school.

It’s when the door opens for lacrosse players from around the country to start making decisions about their future.

With juniors able to give a verbal commitment starting Sept. 1, there are a handful of New Hampshire girls lacrosse players who will have a little extra on their resume when they start taking phone calls.

Last week, Inside Lacrosse released its lists of the top recruits from the class of 2027, and four girls who play for teams in the NHIAA were among those who received recognition.

Raegan Lawton, from Portsmouth High School, led the way, as she was named one of 43 five-star recruits by Inside Lacrosse. A midfielder, Lawton (NH Tomahawks) was a starter for the Clippers’ Division I championship team this past spring, when she recorded 54 goals and 25 assists.

Lawton wasn’t the only member of Portsmouth’s championship team – or her own household – to be recognized, as her twin sister, Emery (NH Tomahawks), was named a four-star recruit. Also a midfielder, Emery Lawton had 53 goals for the Clippers this past season.

Souhegan, which finished as the runner-up in D1 to Portsmouth, also had two members of the class of 2027 named four-star recruits. Attacker Libby Kennedy and midfielder Izzy Stevenson, who both play club for Granite State Elite, were also recognized by Inside Lacrosse.

One other junior with ties to New Hampshire was recognized. Goalie Brea Barker, who was a member of St. Thomas’ Division III championship team in 2024, was named a five-star recruit. Barker, who plays club with Laxachusetts, now plays for Governor’s Academy in Byfield, Mass.
